McKell A. Smith

Our beloved son, father, grandson, uncle, friend McKell Andrew Smith passed away suddenly on October 9, 2016, age 40, of heart complications in San Francisco, California. He was in the company of his dear son Drake at the time of his passing. His parents Douglas G. Smith and Deborah J. Naylor Smith (deceased), extend gratitude to all family and friends who have been so kind and generous at this difficult time. He is survived by is son Drake Owen Smith (mother Beth Parrish), San Anselmo, Ca., and his father Douglas Smith, brothers Aaron (Marissa) and Alex (Deborah), and sister McKensie (Matt) Wilkinson, as well as 9 nephews and nieces. McKell will be missed for his humor, intellect, good nature, love of music, cooking with his son, reading, camping and the outdoors. He was an avid rock climber and enjoyed the company of so many dear friends in his early youth in Utah. He was born in Pasadena, Ca., Feb. 9, 1976, and was raised in Salt Lake City until his college years in Orlando, FL. He attended Skyline High School. He currently lived and worked in San Francisco, Ca. where he will be missed by many friends and family there. A memorial service was held October 18, 2016 in San Raphael, Ca.; with final disposition in the Marin Headlands, which he loved so much. A private Celebration of Life for close family and friends, will be held in Salt Lake City on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at 5:00 PM, at Starks Funeral Parlor, at 3651 S. 900 East in Salt Lake City. In lieu of flowers, a GoFundme.com account has been set up to establish a college trust for his son Drake. McKell is recently preceded in death by his youngest brother Garrett (2011) and his mother Debbie (2015). His companionship, individualism, humor and strength will be missed greatly.
