Melissa Summer Snow

October 19, 1967 - October 18, 2017

Melissa Snow, our precious and beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend passed away on October 19, 2017, on her 50th birthday.  From a young age Melissa was on a quest to live life with true authenticity and was unafraid to pursue those things she held most closely to her heart with absolute determination, regardless of whether it coincided with social norms.  Melissa was fiercely independent, loved traveling, nature, exercise, and found she had a true passion for the performing arts which allowed her to express emotions through movement.  After graduating from the University of Utah on a dance scholarship she embarked on a dance and modeling career that would take her around the globe where she discovered a true love for the European culture, particularly France.  Everywhere Melissa went she made friends with people from all walks of life and always treated each one as an equal, gravitating towards those who shared her view that life is to be lived in the moment as there is no guarantee tomorrow will come.  People were always drawn to Melissa, not only due to her uncommon beauty, but also because she was an old soul who knew exactly what made her feel alive and happy and was unwilling to settle for less, even if that meant trading stability for uncertainty.  For Melissa the highs and lows are what made life worth living and gave her such incredible inner strength and confidence.  She had an uncanny ability to form deep connections with people and did not try to hide her flaws or fears which made her very relatable and utterly human.  Melissa always believed the crown jewel was her son, Matisse, whom she loved with every fiber of her being.  He was her best friend and the pride of her life.  There was no one more loyal than Melissa and if you were lucky enough to be within her inner circle, she had your back, period.  In the final analysis, Melissa embodied pure beauty both inside and out.  She was a free spirit who nurtured her inner child and followed her heart, always in search of fun and laughter, but who could truly love unconditionally with all her heart and soul.  Our lives are forever changed without you in it sweet Melissa but we are infinitely better having been able to love and learn from you for all these years.

Melissa is survived by her son, Matisse DaSilva; parents Bob and Marjorie Snow; brother Matt (Monica) Snow; nephew Hudson Snow and niece Delaney Snow.

A celebration to honor Melissa's life will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking on the north side of the building.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to a college/support fund for Matisse at any Zion's Bank under his name (account number 981455512).

To a beautiful soul with our sincere condolences to the family She Walks in Beauty (By Lord Byron) She walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies; And all that's best of dark and bright Meet in her aspect and her eyes; Thus mellowed to that tender light Which heaven to gaudy day denies. One shade the more, one ray the less, Had half impaired the nameless grace Which waves in every raven tress, Or softly lightens o'er her face; Where thoughts serenely sweet express, How pure, how dear their dwelling-place. And on that cheek, and o'er that brow, So soft, so calm, yet eloquent, The smiles that win, the tints that glow, But tell of days in goodness spent, A mind at peace with all below, A heart whose love is innocent!
