Michael C. Russo

October 19, 1972 - January 12, 2022

Michael Christopher Russo, age 49, passed away on January 12, 2022.

Michael was born on October 19, 1972 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Michael and Sandy Russo. He was affectionately known by many in his family as, “Baby Mike.” He attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Grade School and graduated from West High School. He was proud of his Italian heritage and devoted to his Catholic faith. Michael spent countless Sundays and summers at his grandmother’s house eating spaghetti dinners while growing up with his extended family.

Michael worked as a gold mine exploration driller, allowing him to travel and explore many places. He had a strong work ethic and took pride in all that he did. Michael was a provider and a protector to those he loved. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling with his family.

He was a loving husband to his wife and soulmate, Rita. He cherished his children—Kevin (Kati), Ashlynn, Nick, Kolton, and Hailey. He adored being a grandfather to Brock, Brooklyn, and Austin, and spending time with them.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, aunt/godmother, Susan, many cousins, and his siblings: Melanie, Stephanie, Sidney, and Natalie.

In Michael’s words, “Looking back at my life, I am true to everything that was taught to me for the family. I never told on anyone, I honored our family name. I would fight for everything I believed in!”

A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.

In Loving Memory

Kevin, Katie, and little ones:  I am so terribly sorry that you guys have lost another light that guided you on a daily basis. May you know that love is eternal and he will be your angel. He will stand by you in times of joy, sadness, etc. He will still be your guiding light but it will be much brighter as it is a heavenly light to guide you through life.  May the joyous memories sustain you and may you always feel his comfort. Much love, Debbie

Mike's Loved Ones,  I hope you know how immensely he loved you kids and grandchildren. When he came to work at CSI he shared with me your cute pictures and how much he adored you. My heart is so very broken at Mike's loss, and I can imagine how much more deeply you are feeling his loss. He really was such a spectacular person, with one of the most kind hearts I have ever met in my life. I hope you feel so proud of the legacy of kindness and goodness he's left and the hearts he has touched. I know he will continue to guide you and you will feel his love through out your lives. I send you my deepest condolences.

He was at my apartment and I had baby mike brought over to see uncle mike he told before I do to the hospital I want to see my son. They brought him and he was so shy and nervous. Who wouldn't be at his age anyway I gave them some time before I Called the hospital and the ambulance then I took baby mike to get the saint Christopher,s metal I was broke but I found one silver one I could afford. Thank god some else got him a gold one. I was like 3 years older but I had my own place and a baby.last time we talked I was having issues but he was so happy I didn't really say much.
