Michael Edward McMillan

On the morning of December 18th, 2023, Mike McMillan passed away peacefully after a long illness, surrounded by family in Holladay, Utah, at the age of 81. Mike was born in Baltimore in 1942 to Dr. Marcy McMillan and Carmen Nutter. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, June; son, Dr. Sean McMillan; and grandsons, Aidan and Trevor. Mike lived most of his life in Florida where he enjoyed fishing, watching baseball, and ranching. After obtaining his undergraduate degree at the University of Florida, he served as a corpsman “doc” during the Vietnam War, and upon returning he earned a Masters Degree in Education. He subsequently worked as a respected high school teacher, mentor, and administrator for over 35 years. Lovingly known as “Mr. Mac” throughout his career, he instilled integrity, discipline, and self-reliance to two generations of students. He took delight in catching up with former students and learning of their personal achievements. He was recognized for his strength, wisdom, humility, integrity, and self-reliance which he imparted to his students and son. Mike was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and teacher and will be deeply missed. He will be laid to rest at the Veterans Cemetery in Bluffdale, Utah.
