Michael “Mickey” Boyd Call

May 11, 1935 - December 6, 2021

Michael “Mickey” Boyd Call, 86, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on December 6, 2021 due to complications arising from polycystic kidney disease. Born May 11, 1935 in Midvale, Utah to Homer Ray Call and Lucille Margaret Jensen Call. Raised in Bingham, Utah until moving to Murray, Utah at the age of seven. Graduated from Murray High School, class of 1953. Served in The Army National Guard from November 9, 1953 to November 8, 1959, at which time he was honorably discharged. Eloped to Las Vegas with Rose Alene Burgon September 17, 1965 (later divorced) and settled in East Mill Creek, Utah where they raised four daughters.

He often reminisced about the good old days when he owned the most swinging 1950’s night clubs in Salt Lake Valley, The Saddle Club and, later the The Purple Garter, where the hottest live music was always played. Jitter-bugging was encouraged, and boy, could he cut a rug!

His true passion, however, was for cars, which he parleyed into a lifelong career spanning over sixty years. He was particularly proud of his 35-year career as the fleet manager at Larry H. Miller Dodge, where he continued working full time until the very end.

He loved his house and his yard, especially his beautiful roses. A true do-it-yourselfer, he took great pride in his independence and ingenuity. He could “fix” anything, given enough duct tape and toothpicks.

He was the fun uncle, always teasing, flashing his dimples and charismatic smile, and sharing his gregarious sense of humor. Ever the doting father and grandfather, he made his weekly Sunday visits to each of his daughters’ homes, delivering goodies and catching up on the events of the week. We will sorely miss his warm, thoughtful, and generous nature, but more than that, we will miss his hilarious, and sometimes accidental, sense of humor.

Survived by his daughters Stephanie Falcon (Victor), Laura Call-Beckstrom (Jeff), Rose Alene Studstrup (Joe, divorced), Angela Call (Andre Van Diggelen) and grandchildren Stephan Falcon, Julian Falcon, Mikah Falcon, Izabella Beckstrom, Albion Beckstrom, Alex Studstrup, Ben Studstrup, Josh Studstrup, Sam Studstrup, Rachel Studstrup, and Zen Walker.

Preceded in death by his parents, siblings (Lou Ray Coolick, Bobbie Beal, Reid Call), and nieces and nephew (Julie Clark, Suzanne Cole, Stanley Stelmack).

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 11th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, UT.  Guests are encouraged to park on the north side lot.

In Loving Memory

i am so sad about the passing of your Dad.  He loved you all so much and was so proud of each one of you.  He just lit up when he was talking about his family!  Your Dad would come around every morning to say hi and he would reach into his coat pocket and hand all of us Werthers candies.  I could hardly wait for him to get to work so I could have my candies.  Mike had the kindest heart and always checked to make sure that people were taken care of.  He had the best work ethic of anyone I know.  No matter how he felt, he was at work.  He loved reminiscing about the "old" days and talked about owning his Bars often.  He would tell stories that just make you smile all day.  I am happy that I got to know him.  My thoughts and prayers are with you!
