Mickey D. Pessetto

July 8,1957~November 20,2009

On this day our hearts are heavy with the loss of our hero Mickey.  He fought the battle of his lifetime these past years.  His love for us all was so powerful, we believed that he would win.  Cancer took him from this world and into the loving arms of his family, who we know took him by the hand and led him into God's light.

Mickey was born to Max and Anna Rose Pessetto in Salt Lake City.  His parents couldn't have loved him more.  He graduated from Judge Memorial High School in 1975.He went to work for his dad at the tire store.  Together they worked side by side and created a legacy of customer service that is known by many.  He touched the lives of many people and was loved by us all.  He was a man of men and always had a warm smile and strong handshake to offer.  He was of the most respectful kind.

Mickey met Peggy at Judge and the love story never ended.  He was her yin and she was his yang.  You never had to wonder how deep his love was for her; you could see it in his eyes whenever they looked at each other.  He devoted his life to making her happy, and indeed he did.  Mickey and Peggy married on March 1, 1980 and began their journey to raise a family. Out of that passion came four children, Nicolette, Daniel, Melissa, and Michael “Baby Bruno”.  He passed on to us the importance of hard work, honesty, and integrity in everything we do.  This is evident when ever you visit us all at the tire store, because that's where we all are.

As a reward for all that hard work we were given the gift of grandchildren.  Lil' Mickey was given his Papa's name and smiled when they first laid eyes on each other. Miss Marie and Ava were the sweethearts that melted his heart.  He loved Katelynn, our first born grandchild.

Mickey lived for Sundays with the boys  golfing at the "home course" Mountain Dell.  He loved the guys up there and always appreciated how well you all treated him.

Mickey is survived by his wife Peggy; his four children; four grandchildren; his favorite cousin Tammy Stastny and her family;  best friend Joe Cooper; his brothers-in-law Terry and DelRoy Gonzales; sisters-in-law Lene and Claire; father-in-law Pa (Roy Gonzales); son-in-law Jesse Sandoval; daughter-in-law Avery Evans; and his crew at Big-O.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Max Pessetto Jr.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 25th at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 3015 East Creek Rd., Cottonwood Heights.  Friends may call upon the family at a wake on Tuesday, November 24th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.  Interment to follow at Mt. Olivet, 1342 East 500 South, Salt Lake City.

Arrangements entrusted to Starks Funeral Parlor.

He would want us to make sure that we gave a heart felt thank you to so many people up at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. To Dr. Wallace Akerly: he believed that you were the one that kept him alive and your determination never wavered.  Terry, we just love you and thank you so much for always making sure that he was comfortable, heard, and important.  All of the nurses in the clinics and the infusion room you always made him smile, he admired you all for your work and that you did it with grace and strength.  To the staff on the RICU at IHC: you all worked so hard to keep him comfortable and help us get through it, too.  Brad, Ryan and Richard you left an indelible mark on us for going above and beyond.

Gods Speed my love…all fairways and greens.

In Loving Memory

Peggy & Family, I am so very sorry. Words seem rather inadequate at a time of such intense sorrow. But I have to say, I have such wonderful memories of Saturday night dinners with you and Mickey. I looked forward to that all week, more than you know. His smile was contagious, his laugh infectious and his spirit simply radiated. When Mickey smiled it was from his heart...and when he laughed and the tears wouldn't stop from laughing it was the BEST! I could rattle off a bunch of adjectives to describe Mickey but the one that comes to mind the most is Love. He loved sincerely, deeply and honestly. I send my love to you Peggy, and your amazing family and I pray that you find peace and comfort.

I am so sorry to hear of the family's loss. Mickey was a great dad and has a beautiful family. He could make anyone laugh, including me even though he was telling me I did not know how to take care of my car. But news like that delivered with Mickey's smile was funny and we bothed laughed. His smile will forvever live on. I send my love to his family.

Peggy, Nicolette & Family: Marcie and I are so very sad to hear of Mickey's passing. Now I know why Nicolette wasn't more positive when I asked her how her Dad was last week. Mickey was always so upbeat, pleasant and just made me smile. I will never go to any other place to have work done on my vehicles as a result of his honesty and kindness. Big O is truly a "family business, that loves what they do" and it shows. Marcie and I are so blessed to have known him and to be able to continue that relationship with Peggy and Nicolette is truly a gift. Thank You and our Love and Prayers are with all of you.

Peggy and Family, Jordan and I are so sorry to hear of Mickey's passing. I couldn't have asked for a better neighbor while growing up. He had such a kind heart and a great smile. Anytime I sent someone to your store, they would always call me afterwards and say "Mickey took great care of me!" We will miss him and our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Peggy and Family, I am very saddened to read Mickey's obituary today. I pray that his family and collegues can get through these difficult times. I always enjoyed doing business at the Big O store. Max, then Mickey took the best of care of their customers. Peggy, I saw you just a few weeks ago at breakfast with the cutest grand daughter. I thought Mickey looked great and was going to make it. I guess we never know. Jack

My name is Mina Laughlin and your husband/father's obituary was next to my father George L. Laughlin. I noticed Dr. Ackerly and Terry mentioned in the obituary, and felt a sense of not being so alone. My father was also a patient of Ackerly and I feel deeply for your family's loss. I know how hard this past year has been for me and my family and although there is a sense of ease that our loved one no longer suffers we the living still suffer. I wish you peace and love and will tell my dad to look Mickey up in heaven...

Dear Peggy and Children, my sincere sympathy and condolence to you all as you work through this tough time. I started going to Big O (R&M TIRE) in early 70's, Max, then Mickey through all these years always treated me fairly and with all respect. You just don't run across such fine people everyday and that kept me always coming back to them. It won't be the same that is for sure but he has left a real legacy; something you all can be proud of forever. Please accept my sincere love and thanks to you for him and his great life! I will definely miss him but i'll see him through you and those children-especially Nicolette and Daniel if they still show up for work! (HA) Take care and be at peace for the great man he was. Peggy & Family So sorry to read of Mickey's passing. Being a long time customer and friend of both Mickey and his Dad Max it was a shock to see his obituary. I followed the business all over the area going back to the 50's and haven't bought tires anywhere else. I was always treated well and respected the advice I got from both Mickey and Max. I hope to be able to continue seeing you Peggy; and maybe other members of the family at the bu;siness. Mickey was a good friend to me as are you. My symppathy is with ;you at this time .

Dear Peggy, and Family, Please accept my heart-felt condolences for loss of your sole-mate, father, and friend. Not a day goes by in reminiscing of my childhood that Mickey isn't there. He was such a great friend and his family was so loving to me during these formative years. His presents has definitely shaped who I am today. I am so grateful to have known him and his family. May God bless you in this time of grief, and bring you solace and peace. Best Wishes, Scott

Mickey touched my life when serious car trouble brought us into his shop after a camping trip, fully loaded car and kids in tow & he offered us his own truck and kindness. He will be missed. Much love to his beautiful family.
