Mickey Edward Hettich
October 8, 1947 - April 21, 2018
Mickey Edward Hettich passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 21st, 2018 in West Valley City, Utah.
Mickey was born in Corning, Ohio on October 8th, 1947 to Lawrence and Grace Hettich.
He survived by his wife of 30 years, Barbara Hettich who he loved endlessly as well as his five daughters and only son and their children: Kevin Hettich (Caleb Fornelious, Grace Hettich, Paige Hettich) Brenda Weck (Abraham Weck, Garrett Weck,Ellie Weck ) , Belinda Norman (Bryson Norman, Daxton Norman), Connie Olson and her husband Ryan Olsen, Kimberly Birrell (Constance "CJ" Birrell) and Melanie Walker (Treydn Walker, Presleigh-Rae Walker).
He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam war and he received medals for his bravery and honor.
He enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his family at Fish Lake, but truly loved his tools and garage. Mickey was a master of all trades and could fix anything you put in front of him and if he couldn't, then he knew how to rig it. He loved working at Northrop Grumman and retired two years ago.
Mickey was loved by everyone he knew, he was simply a wonderful man, husband, father and friend. He will be forever missed and never forgotten.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 28th, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking on the north side of the building.
In Loving Memory
Dear family of Mickey, I had the great pleasure to work with Mickey for number of years at Northrop Grumman. While there we both participated in a veteran's support organization. I could always count on Mickey to bring a positive attitude and can-do spirit to every endeavor. He made everyone's day little better and provided an example of selfless service and friendliness for us all. I honor his service to our country as well. His courage and bravery are attested to in his awards and service record. I am sorry that he left us and his loving family too early but am grateful for the time I got to be in his company. I am truly a better person for having had that opportunity. My deepest condolences, Clay

Losing my little brother hurts all over. Words are hard to come by at a time like this. Your will be remembered as a man with a gentle nature, always putting others first, and living by the Golden Rule. So glad you had your whole family surrounding you at the end. We will meet again.

Wanted to add a story to the Obituary: Mickey was Born 10/8/47 in Corning, Ohio "on the kitchen table, as Corning didn't have a hospital. Doc Miller was called when Mom went into labor, but was drunk when he arrived. So our dad's mom, Grandma (Ruby) Hettich took over and delivered Mickey!" Ask our big sis, Phyllis Lewis about this...

Mickey and I were classmates and friends..We rode to school together our senior year , along with Jim Heilman and Dan Karg. I'm glad to know he had such a good life and a big family. I'm sorry his life was cut short. I'll always have fond memories of those days and our friendship.
