Mike Peter Fotes

December 22, 1931 - June 21, 2022

Mike Peter Fotes, 90, husband, father, and “Papou”, is now playing a round of golf on the 19th hole. He died peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, surrounded by his family, two days before his 65th Wedding Anniversary.
Mike was born December 22, 1931 in Ogden, Utah, son of Peter George Fotes (Kalamata, Greece) and Kanella Kallas (Kounoupia, Greece). His youth was spent farming, working a second job, playing college football for Weber State, and serving in the military, all while caring for his widowed mother.
He married Eleni Rondas on June 23, 1957 at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Salt Lake City, and then became a partner of Bountiful Lincoln Mercury, a landmark dealership. His “official” retirement was spent mowing fairways and roughs with his friends at Bountiful Ridge Golf Course, and retiring a second time at the youthful age of 89.
He is survived by his wife Eleni, brother George (Janae), daughter Michele (Karl), son Peter, grandchildren Aleko, Tykie, Spero, Mike, great grandchildren Aydin and Lina Rose. Preceded in death by his parents, and sister Mary.
Services will be 10:30am Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Holy Trinity Cathedral, 279 South 300 West, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, June 27, 2022 at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City where we will raise a glass in his honor. A private graveside service will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to Holy Trinity Cathedral.
May his memory be eternal. We will forever miss you Papou.

In Loving Memory

Mike was always a pleasure to work around at Bountiful Ridge Golf Course. I had many great conversations over a cup of coffee with him. When he had the Dealership I bought a car from him. He will be missed but never forgot. RIP Mike

What a lucky old man I was to have known Mike, worked with Mike, and played golf with Mike. That smile and personality was infectious to all! Such wonderful memories.  Cheers to you my friend, Helen, and family.
