Mitchel Lynn Katris

Forever In Our Hearts

May 15, 1956 – August 17, 2008

Mitch was born in Denver, CO, the third of six children to Darlene and CG Katris.

Mitch touched many lives by giving so much of himself and caring for those around him.  His talent in restorations, master carpentry, drawing and fixing anything are paralleled by none.  He was a true artisan.

He is survived by two beloved sons Cody, currently serving our country in the US Army; and Christian, a sophomore who enjoys playing acoustic guitar; his father; siblings Mark (Elaine) and their son, Connor; Marie and her daughter, Christina; Monica (Hank) Thropp and their children, Abrea, Danielle and Henry; sister-in-law Sandra and her children, Nicholas, Elizabeth (Joseph) and Daniel; brother-in-law Bart and his children Spencer and Lacey; and many other family members and friends.

Preceded in death by his mother, brother Michael, and sister Michelle.

A wake will be held on Saturday, August 23rd from 7 to 9 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 25th at 10:00 AM at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Ave and T St., Salt Lake City.

In Loving Memory

I`VE ONLY KNOWN MITCH SINCE THIS SUMMER, BUT HE WAS A VERY SPECIAL YOUNG MAN. HE DID GOOD WORK AND WAS ALWAYS SO GRACIOUS. I WILL MISS HIM. MY BLESSINGS ARE WITH HIS FAMILY AT THIS PAINFUL TIME.

I'm sorry to here of your loss Mitch worked for me at Mr Parts for a few years in the early eighties and always came to work with a good attitude, a smile, and the ability to help others. He's a possitive memory for me. Good luck and best wishes for the family. Mark Beckstead

I am so sorry for your loss, Marie, Monica, Mark and all the family. I know you all were his world.Being with Mitch for as long as I was, I knew his ups and downs and his many struggles in life. I loved Mitch very much (he could always make me laugh) and his gift as a carpenter was really unparalleled. I am struggling with the fact that he is no longer here, but I remember Psalm 23, which is still listed in my Bible as Mitch's favorite. "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me..." I hold on to the knowledge that Mitch has peace in heaven with his mom, brother and sister. My thoughts are with you all.

I am sorry to hear about Mitch. When I knew him he was a young man full of promise. I was sorry to see that you chose to leave out the fact that he was also survived by his 2 daughters, Amanda & Megan, though he had not seen them for a very long time. Tory Hill
