Nancy Ann Christensen
October 2, 1940 - July 8, 2024
Nancy Ann Christensen, born on October 2, 1940, in Holladay, Utah, passed away on Monday, July 8th, 2024, at home surrounded by her family.
She was the youngest of three children born to Lloyd and Frank Williams. Nancy was a strong family woman, deeply spiritual, and had a profound love for nature. Nancy cherished her upbringing in Holladay, where she played in the Hollow and orchards, fostering a deep connection to the earth. She was a dedicated farmer at heart, finding joy in nurturing the land and sharing the beauty of nature with her loved ones. She was a beloved mother to her children Suzie, Julie (Mike), and Frank (Carolyn), and a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother.
Nancy was married to Arba (Ace) Christensen on April 9th, 1958.
She faced many challenges as she aged but remained fiercely independent with the loving support of her family. Nancy's interests were vast, ranging from learning and reading, listening to a variety of music, gardening, hiking, camping and enjoying deep conversations. She found solace in the simple pleasures of life, teaching her family the importance of connecting with nature and appreciating the seasons of life reflected in the garden.
Throughout her life, Nancy held various roles, including Administrative Secretary of Pharmacology at the University of Utah, customer service for JetBlue and a grant writer at the Maliheh Free Clinic in South Salt Lake. She was a proud advocate for the underserved and believed in equal rights for all communities. Nancy's family remembers her as “Fun Gram,” a nickname earned through the countless adventures she took her grandchildren on. She had a deep spiritual connection and was passionate about learning ancient shamanic teachings and Native American ways of life.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Frank Williams, brother, Bob Williams, sister, Lila McPharlin, husband, Arba (Ace) Christensen, infant daughter, Jennifer Christensen, and beloved daughter, Suzie White.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to her Horizon Hospice team, Whitney, Kaileigh, and especially Kathy, for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salt Lake Childrens Choir (http://childrensing.org/donate) or the Utah Food Bank (www.utahfoodbank.org) in Nancy's honor would be appreciated.
Nancy will be remembered as a strong, loving, and beautiful soul who dedicated her life to her family, nature, and serving others. Her legacy of love, wisdom, and generosity will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 1st, 2024 from 3:00 to 5:00pm at Starks Funeral Parlor. 3651 South 900 East SLC, Utah 84106.
