Nancy Kathleen McGill Green

March 10, 1948 - November 6, 2024

Nancy Kathleen McGill Green, wife, mom, sister, aunt and GG passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, surrounded by her family after a long term battle with metastatic breast cancer.   Mom was born the third oldest of ten on March 10, 1948 in Salt Lake City, UT.  She attended JE Cosgriff Memorial elementary school where she first met, who would eventually become her best friend and husband of fifty-five years, Mike Green.  Mom attended high school at Judge Memorial, where she met many of her lifelong friends, and graduated from St. Mary’s of the Wasatch.  In high school, Mom was a cheerleader, Junior Prom Queen and Grail Seal Bearer.  She went on to attend the University of Utah where she was affiliated with Pi Beta Phi sorority and pursued nursing before she put her career aspirations on hold in order to be a full-time mom to her two kids, Tim and Amy.  She was officially the mom of two but was a motherly figure to many of her siblings, god children, nieces, nephews and friends of Tim’s and Amy’s.  One of her favorite events was hosting her annual Easter Egg Hunt for friends and family rain, snow or shine.

Mom worked at the Mountain Bell Telephone Company, Indian Trading Post, Pamela’s and Apple Yard Art while also volunteering at Cosgriff and serving on the St. Ambrose Parish Council, but she always prioritized her family above all else.  And nothing brought her more joy than when her family expanded to include daughter-in-law Vasyleah, son-in-law Danny Nowicki and her greatest joys, her four grandchildren Claire, Ethan, Jillian and Maya.  Being a GG brought her purejoy.  Everything she did was for her grandkids.  She loved caring for them, giving them treasure hunts and leading their cheering section at their many sporting events and performances.  She instilled a foundation of kindness that help make them the amazing young adults they are today.

Mom enjoyed reading, gardening, travel, puzzles, watching sports and British crime shows with Dad and lunches and dinners with her friends.  And whether it was her annual Christmas ornaments, gifts for her god children or her treats for her grandchildren wrapped just so, her actions and words showed how much those around her were loved.

Preceded in death by her parents Mae and Paul McGill, in-laws, LaVina and Jack Green, sister Patricia McGill and sister-in-law Cathy Barnes McGill.  She’ll remain in the memories each day of Mike, Tim & Vasyleah, Amy & Danny, four grandchildren, eight siblings Carren Linn-Downs, Paul, Janie Razzeca (Mike), Barbara Pintner (Billy), Mark (Avez), Dan (Sue), Mary and David (Tina), brother-in-law John Green (Linda),many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, her many friends and admirers. Special thanks to a best friend that visited often, Mary Clark and her hospice nurse, Jan, for their constant support and care. In lieu of flowers please donate to Susan G Komen Foundation or to your favorite charity.

A private service will be held in November followed by a celebration of life on December 20th from 4-7 at St. Vincent’s Holy Family Center. Mom will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum.

In Loving Memory

I was so sorry to hear about Nancy. We loved the Easter parties the Greens would host for the kids- great memories. Our love and thoughts are with all who loved her.
