Neal Eatchel

April 4, 1947 - February 26, 2014

Loving Papa

 

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend Neal Alan Eatchel, age 66, “33 and some months” passed away on February 26th, 2014 with family by his side after a long and valiant fight with cancer.

He was born April 4th, 1947 in Murray, Utah to Ethelyn Marie and Rex G. Eatchel.  Neal married his high school sweetheart Mary Stauffer on December 29th, 1966.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Neal loved camping, fishing and his Pittsburgh Steelers. His family was his most prized possessions. Boy, he loved his grandchildren! We will deeply miss that wonderful sense of humor, for which he was well known.

He is survived by his loving and adoring wife Mary; children Debora (Robert) Chatwin, Andy (Michelle) Eatchel, Tony (Nikki) Eatchel; grandchildren Thomas (Casey) Chatwin, Allison Chatwin, Charley, Ryan and Taylor Eatchel; brother Ronnie Eatchel; and two sisters Janean (Tim) Severe and Ranae (Robert) Borden.  Preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert Eatchel.

Friends may call upon the family at a celebration of life on Monday, March 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, where complimentary valet parking will be provided on the north side of the building. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 4th at 11:00 AM at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 S. Camp Williams Rd., Bluffdale.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Neal to George E. Wahlen VAMC, attn: Volunteer Service for Palliative Care Unit, 500 Foothill Dr., Salt Lake City, UT 84148.

Mary I am so sorry for your loss . It took my breath away when I saw Neal's obituary . You may not remember me , I was married to John Montoya when he and Neal worked at Westinghouse . I will always remember Neal as a gentle giant . He was always fun to be around and also so kind . My heart goes out to you and your family during this difficult time.
