Ned J.V. Leger

August 2, 1934 - June 16, 2013

On Father's Day the world lost a beautiful soul. Ned J.V. Leger passed away surrounded by those who loved him and those he loved.

Ned was born August 2, 1934 in Ogden, Utah. He graduated from Ogden High, served in the United States Marine Reserves, and married his high school sweetheart and soul mate, Bonnie, on December 18, 1954. Ned was a merchandising manager for Safeway Stores, Inc., where he worked for over 25 years until 1977 when he and his wife opened and operated Leger's Produce and Deli until 2007.

Ned loved life, he loved adventure, and he loved his family more than can be expressed in words. His passion was building custom log homes, which he built virtually by himself. He built seven and put happiness and love into each rock and beam.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie Richards Leger; sons Anthony Ned Leger (Jackie McDonough), Michael Paul Leger (Lesley), daughter Bibi Leger Whitehead (Chris); 8 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. Ned is preceded in death by his parents Paul Emile and Victoria Sacco Leger; sister Elizabeth Leger; and granddaughter Ashleigh.

Friends are invited to join the family to celebrate Ned's life on Thursday, June 20th from 6 to 8 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Graveside service will be held on Friday, June 21st at 10:00 AM at Lakeview Cemetery, 1640 Lakeview Dr., Bountiful.

Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.starksfuneral.com.

He will be missed beyond expression, but is undoubtedly embarking on yet another new adventure. We love you dad and we hope you are notching a log.

In Loving Memory

Remembering Cousin Ned: Many, many years ago (maybe 1954), Ned was a contestant on the then popular Horace Height Show. Aunt Nene got us all tickets to go see him. We took up a couple rows at the Ogden High School auditorium. When this extremely handsome young man appeared on stage wearing a winning smile and an accordion strapped to him, we jumped up, hooted & hollered. He finished playing a perfect "Lady of Spain" and we did it all over again, clapping till our hands were sore. The Leger/Sacco cousins were very close and Ned being the oldest was Top Dog. It's So good to think about him again and a life well lived. My love and prayers are with you and your family Bonnie. Heartfelt sympathy, Cousin Wiggy

We can't express how sorrowful we are at the loss of our dear brother. We all adored Ned. He being the only son in our family and the oldest, we all looked up to him. He and Bonnie were like peas and carrots, for 60 years. What beautiful memories we have of them, wonderful times we shared together. With love, Florine, Patsy, Antoinette and of corse Dick his buddy.
