Neil Richard Baker

August 20, 1966 - January 8, 2018

It's with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we say goodbye to a loving father, devoted grandpa, caring brother, son, and incredible friend, Neil Baker.

Those in Neil's life were always greeted with a massive smile and a truly meaningful hug. He never missed an opportunity to hit the slopes, swing a club, or be on the lake. He had a work ethic to be admired; a true visionary, full of entrepreneurial drive and optimism.

He taught his children many of life's most important lessons: Taco Bell's bean burritos with green sauce are the perfect breakfast, lunch, and dinner. "Alphabet butt spelling" is a dance move for every occasion. "Shake your money maker like your name is Neil Baker" is, in fact, a #1 hit song. There's a "Dumb and Dumber" quote for everything (So, you're telling me there's a chance?!). The best gifts are homemade; especially painted pottery from Color Me Mine. Bribery is at an all time high on the Baker boat ("You can get anything you want from the marina if you just get in the water and try"). Music is everything. Lake Powell is the only place that matters. There is always room for improvement and others always come first.

His children, along with his grandkids, were the absolute light of his life and he was deeply proud of each. Until he can once again watch the stars with them from the bow of the boat, Neil will continue watching over them from the best seat in the house. He is survived by daughters, Linzi, Katey, and Jaimee (Colton), son Zak, grandchildren Kenli and Cruz, mother Gloria Anderson, and siblings Debbie Ortega, Russ Baker, and Brian Baker. He is preceded in death by his father, Larry Baker, and stepfather, Michael Anderson.

A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.

Neil's sense of humor, compassion, generosity, and ambition will be sorely missed by all who had the honor and pleasure of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, pay it forward. Extend a compliment. Hug someone deeply. Make a fool of yourself. Laugh as often and as hard as you can and always give someone else a reason to smile.

In Loving Memory

I will always remember how much Neil smiled! He was one of the kindest men I know! I know we all wish we had that last goodbye... he will be deeply missed. I love you bud!

Neil will be deeply missed. I met Neil last year and had only worked with him since July within the HP family. His smile and humor is what I will remember the most. From my family and the HP family to yours, our thoughts, and condolences.

I first met Neil back when he was involved with Onyx Graphics close to 20 years ago at a reseller conference in Utah. During that time I had the great opportunity to ski with him and a couple of his kids, we had one of my most memorable days on the hill and since then as we would bump into each other at trade shows or other industry events we would always have time to catch up. I will remember Neil as always having a smile and sincere interest in everyone he knew. Our industry has lost a really great, fun loving guy! my condolences

Neil Baker you will be deeply missed! There will never be a better reminder to ?Celebrate? life when we think of you. I met Neil Baker over 20 years ago, working together, playing together, he had the drive and energy that never stopped. Work or play is all the same when you have the passion Neil possessed. Thanks for the wisdom to keep in our hearts and be assured I will pay it forward in your honor.
