Paul Bret Hamblin

7/21/1966-6/6/2012

In so few words it's impossible to describe the depths of a person; not only their achievements and gifts, but also their natural essence. Bret was so much to so many: son, brother, grandson, cousin, uncle, nephew, care-giver, colleague and friend.

Bret was born July 21, 1966 to Paul Lamont Hamblin and Theda Madsen in Salt Lake City, Utah. He entered life with a meticulous vigor that accompanied him throughout his life.

He proudly served an LDS mission in Capetown, South Africa.

Afterward, he proceeded with his education earning a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah. While there he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Bret's passion for healing others led to his earning a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California.

Bret’s gift for healing served many. With gentleness, his patients received Bret’s professional and compassionate care at the VA hospital in New York City, at St Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City, throughout Sanpete County, Utah, and at the time of his passing he was practicing at St. Joseph’s Villa in Salt Lake City.

Bret is best remembered by his family and friends for his unparalleled kindness for all living things. This gentle man was a blessing to us all.

Bret is survived by his father Paul Lamont Hamblin, his mother Theda Hogle, step father Jim Hogle, sister Stacy Birch, brother in-law Michael Birch, niece Hailey Birch, nephew Bridger Birch, Grandparents Paul and Shirley Hamblin and many aunts, uncles, cousins and step-brothers and sisters. We are especially grateful to Uncle Tom and Aunt Dora Allred for their loving care of Bret, and to Barbara Burgett of Pleasant Grove, Utah. A private family burial will take place in Mount Pleasant, Utah.

We invite contributions in Bret's memory to: Utah Animal Adoption Center, 1955 N. Redwood Road, Salt Lake City, UT 84116.

In Loving Memory

Dear Mont, Theda, and Stacy- I am so so sorry to hear about Bret's passing. I have such wonderful, fun memories of Bret. Our times hanging out in high school and working at KFC were a true blessing in my life. I've missed him greatly over the years. I really loved him and that fabulous laugh of his! Thank you for sharing your amazing son and brother. My deepest condolences. Ashley
