Paul Harrison Scott
January 5, 1947 - December 3, 2016
Paul was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Daphne J. Harrison and Richard M. Scott and was raised in a big family with 6 siblings (3 brothers, 3 sisters).
He graduated with honors from Skyline High School and attended the University of Utah. During that time, he joined the Special Forces Airborne Reserves. In his late 20's, he went to work for the US Postal service and worked as a letter carrier for over 30 years. He enjoyed meeting new people on his route and quickly made friends with many of them. In everything he did, whether it be work or pleasure, he loved to talk and befriended people easily.
Paul spent the happiest 28 years of his life married to Nancy, in which they raised their only daughter Erika. Those years were filled with many good times, lots of laughs and many family road trips to Minnesota, Canada, California, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone or camping up the Cottonwood Canyons nearby. All who knew him during these days remember his engaging, talkative personality, his infectious laugh and his steadfast love for his family. His daughter was the apple of his eye and he doted on her any chance he got. During these days, his happiest moments were spent with his family and friends doing the activities he loved: fishing, skiing, golfing, listening to Jimmy Buffet and Merle Haggard, reading, or getting everyone laughing in games of Liars' dice and Hearts. He was always good for a laugh and often became the source of hilarious adventures (and misadventures). He would often laugh so hard he would cry as he would recount or reenact some of these adventures.
Although his last 10 years were not happy ones, God blessed him in his last moments on this earth as he was surrounded by his family during his passing.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents Daphne and Richard; sisters Susie and Julie; brother Richard; brother-in-law Steve; and his nephew Justin. He is survived by his daughter Erika (Eric); his 2 granddaughters; sister Lynne; and brothers Michael and John.
Rest in Peace. We love you!
The family has decided to hold a small family gathering at a later date.
In Loving Memory
Remembering many happy times at The Willows. My thoughts are with your family, especially Erika. I'm glad Paul had such a loving family that saw the good and had hope. Sincerely, Laura Gallagher
