Paul J. Callaway

January 15, 1954 - August 31, 2019

Paul was born January 15, 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Douglas D Callaway and Catherine “Kae” Callaway. Paul was raised in Kearns, Utah and graduated from Kearns High School in 1972. Paul started working on the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad (D&RG), where he would spend 42 years as a brakeman, switchman and conductor as the company transformed to the Western Pacific, Southern Pacific and Union Pacific Railroads. In 1978, Paul met Lori Newton, who would become his wife of 38 years. They raised two boys, John and James, in Sandy, Utah.

Paul loved the outdoors and loved to spend time on the slopes skiing the weekend away. He was always interested in learning new things and teaching his kids about how the world worked. He was a jokester with a laugh that everybody who met him would remember. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed.

Paul passed away on August 31, 2019 and is preceded in death by his parents Douglas and Kae and his brother Kevin. He is survived by his wife Lori and their children John (Kathy) and James. He will be missed by his two grandchildren Jakob and Izabella who he affectionately nicknamed “Jaker” and “Cabellas.” He is also survived by his brother David (Cher) and sister Cathie (Michael).

A graveside service will be held at Herriman Cemetery (12465 Pioneer St, Herriman, UT 84096) on October 19, 2019 at 11am, followed by a Celebration of Life open house at the family home (14287 Bailey Hill Way, Herriman, UT 84096) from noon to 4pm.

So sad at the passing of my cousin Paul. When we were kid's and our families got together we always had such a good time. Paul always made me laugh even if I didn't know the joke. His laugh was infectious and joyful. Our deepest condolences to his family.

To all that Loved my brother Paul- 3 years have passed and yesterday has come and gone. If I could of grabbed a hold of time and stopped it and changed the direction for a happier time when you and Kev were here. I would do so. To say I'm heart broken is an understatement. I miss you! Love Cathie
