Paul John Sharich
April 27, 1955 - July 9, 2017
Paul passed away peacefully at sunrise on Sunday, July 9, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born on April 27, 1955 in Salt Lake City to John P. Sharich and Maxine Bybee. He was the middle child and the only boy.
Paul was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Olympus High School. He worked by his father's side at the family Chevron station. It was there that his love of cars developed. In high school, he bought his first car, a brand new 1973 Mach 1 Mustang. For many years he enjoyed participating in car shows across the state. He later added a 1972 Ford Ranchero to his showcase. It was his passion to keep a sparkle in every vehicle he owned. Both cars brought him joy until his last day. Paul had a beautiful yard that he loved to keep. He cheered for the Dallas Cowboys and the Utah Utes. Paul loved to collect knickknacks and had a smile that was contagious for miles.
He married the love of his life, Sheila Jarrett in May 1979. Together they had four children. In their 38 years together, they displayed what love and devotion truly means, in both the good times and the hard. They enjoyed becoming grandparents and watching their family grow.
Paul retired from the Utah State Prison as an investigation officer in 2013 after 23 years. He loved his job and was proud to serve. He fought a valiant fight. Our lives won't be the same without him in it.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila; children Ryan, Annie and T.J; grandkids Daniel, Adelyn and Chloe; his loving mother, Maxine; sisters Gae Lynn (Richard) Simons and LuAnn (Charlie) Johnson; his mother-in-law, Ada Jarrett; and many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, John; father-in-law, Thayne; and daughter, Jessica.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Lambardi for his dedication. They also wish to thank the many nurses, friends, neighbors and family whose love and support over the years has carried us through the difficult times.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East Salt Lake City where a short program will follow the celebration. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking on the north side of the building and to dress casually. Interment to follow at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City.
And as Paul would say, "Remember to do the most important thing….Have fun!"

In Loving Memory
I had the privilege of working with Paul at LEB. He was always so quite. But his smile was very inviting. He was always so helpful and diligent of his duties. I'm sorry for the family's loss and hope you can find peace.

Dear Sheila, I was so sad to see the news that Paul had passed. I'm sure your heart is breaking. I didn't know him well, but the few times I saw him he seemed like such a nice person. Draw close to those you love for strength and support. Prayers and Hugs! ♥
