Paul 'Loctite' A. Gold
September 1, 1946 - August 2, 2021
Our beloved brother, father, stepfather, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully on August 2, 2021 in Holladay, Utah.
Paul was born in Watertown, Massachusetts September 1, 1946 and later graduated from Watertown High School in 1964.
Paul served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a nuclear chemical specialist until he was honorably discharged in 1967. He then graduated from NYU (New York City), with honors, and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry.
Paul held several positions as a chemist and manager in the Medical Device Industry for companies in the Boston area such as New England Nuclear and Becton Dickenson. Paul loved the outdoors and particularly enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson(s) in the mountains where he and his wife, Marilyn Gold (preceded in death in 2009), would hike, camp and fly fish in New Hampshire and Vermont.
It was his love of the mountains and powder skiing that eventually led them to relocate to Holladay, Utah, to explore the local mountains with many motorcycle and camping trips throughout Utah and other spectacular parts of the West. He continued his Medical Device career at Becton Dickenson in the Salt Lake area and later at Gull Laboratories and Idaho Technologies. Because of his love of the outdoors and traveling, Paul also spent time as a long-haul tractor trailer truck driver taking to the road and traveling across the United States with one of their dogs at his side.
He leaves behind his brother, Jeffrey Gold (Mt. Desert Island, ME and the Carribean), son Gabriel Gold and wife Moneasha (Rock Springs, WY), step-son and step-daughter, David C. Weston (Taylorsville, UT) and Deborah Weston Rendahl (San Marcos, CA), his grandchildren Travis C. Weston and fiancé Brittany Warner (Holladay UT), Rebecca Rendahl (San Marcos, CA), Patricia Gold (preceded in death), Alicia Gold and Ashlie Mae Gold (Green River, WY), his step-grandchildren Dylan (Payton) Boudra, Cody Kennedy, and Camden Dahlberg (Rock Springs, WY), his nephew Zach Gold (Mt. Desert Island, ME and the Carribean), two adoring dogs, Addy and Skye, and many close friends in New England and the Salt Lake City area.
His dry wit, humor and infectious laugh will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of his Life will be on Friday, August 13, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor , 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Paul’s honor to the University of Utah Body Donor Program at https://umarket.utah.edu/ugive/index.php?gift_id=94. Before his death, Paul made the honorable decision to donate his body to this highly regarded program to directly influence the research of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD) and aid in the discovery of future treatments.
