Phyllis C. Winters
December 10, 1948 - September 20, 2014
The most wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend was taken from us much too early due to a glioblastoma brain tumor on September 20, 2014. Phyllis was born to Vernon and Edith Warner Cummings on December 10, 1948, in Cedar City, Utah. At age 6 she moved to the Sugarhouse area. She married Kim R. Winters in December, 1972.
Phyllis is survived by her husband Kim; three daughters Kristen (Cory) Miller, Shannon Mortensen, Angie (Paul) Blackner; son Eric (J'Amy) Winters; 12 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; brother Jim (Linda) Cummings; and sister Kathy (Mike) Dunn. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and brother Warner.
Phyllis loved to golf making many life-long friends from golf and many more from her fellow employees at different firms where she worked. She also cherished sleepovers with grandkids and vacations to Seeley Lake, Montana.
Phyllis and her family wish to sincerely thank her sister, Kathy, for everything especially her deep, undying love. Also, her BFFs Marilyn Orton and Vickie Warner for their love and help during some trying times. Many thanks to Silverado Hospice, IHC, and Huntsman.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, where complimentary valet parking will be provided on the north side of the building. Casual or golf attire requested.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Huntsman Cancer Center or the charity of your choice. Phyllis and her family have chosen to help others by donating her body to the University of Utah Health Science Department.
