Prentice Allyn Beck

Prentice Allyn Beck, a beloved son, brother, fiancé and friend passed from this world on February 27th, 2017 in the company of his loved ones and close friends. After a courageous and valiant battle with a very rare form of cancer, Prentice once at last found a resolution of peace and tranquility in the next life.

Prentice was born December 23rd, 1993 in West Jordan, Utah his lifelong hometown. He is the son of William and Melody Beck. Brother to Garitty, Phillip, Cadence, and Harmony. He graduated from West Jordan High School in 2012. Prentice was loving, friendly, warm, hardworking and devoted to all he met. He loved music, his fiancé, his mother and father, and watching his beloved Utah Jazz. Those around him count themselves lucky to have known such an inviting person.

His 23 years were spent laughing, playing basketball, serving his loved ones and playing with children. Prentice stood at 6 feet 7 inches tall, and had an equally unforgettable personality to match his awesome size. He was a joy to converse, laugh, and celebrate with. He was always happiest when spending time with his family, or forging lifelong memories with his fiancé Tautiyana. Tautiyana and his families were always his support and foundation. He never lacked for compassion, time or the resources of those who knew him. Humanity and pure love were also extended to him by much of the hospital staff and he received gifts of charity from kind doctors. Through sickness and in health, Tautiyana and his family never wavered in providing him the best care they could.

In his illness Prentice remained selfless as he always had been. He cared about and was more conscious about the feelings and wellbeing of those around him than himself. His true character was always on full display and was nothing short of a miracle. The way Prentice conducted himself under unbearable physical pain and terrible anguish is how he will be remembered. Grateful even in his situation, Prentice and his family were the recipients of generous and very caring gifts from warmhearted donors. A special thanks and appreciation to dear friends, acquaintances and Dr. Jololene Allen all who donated to help Prentice with his medical bills, living costs and financial needs. Money, time, and gratuity were selflessly given without question to help a fellow brother in need.

His life is a celebration, an example to live by. His biology may have faulted, but his mind and constitution never faded. We do not so much as say goodbye to him, but we wish him well on his next phase of existence. Life is uncertain and fragile, but the way we live our lives is eternal through its influence. Prentice gave many hugs, held many hands, gave many smiles, and touched many hearts. With us, he will live forever.

A wake will be held on Saturday, March 4th from 7:30 to 9:30 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking provided on the north side of the building.
