Randy John Gittins

December 6, 1949 - July 10, 2015

Randy John Gittins, born Dec 6, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away July 10, 2015 in Murray, Utah. He fought a valiant battle against heart problems and kidney disease the last several years of his life.

Randy was a fan of the Utes, Yankees and Eagles. He loved fishing and played and coached youth baseball. Graduated from Granite High School 1968 and had nice careers with Wilson Supply, Discover Card and Easton. He entertained and sang for retired people in retirement homes. The Beatles were his favorite.

Randy married Digna Loy Maymi on July 1, 1970 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Their marriage produced two beautiful children, Digna Marie and Randy John Jr.

Randy was a great husband, a loving brother, an awesome father, and a true friend. He will be missed by scores of people.

Preceded in death by his mother Lucille Shambow; his brother Terry Gittins; and son Randy Jr. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Digna; daughter Digna Marie; sister Sharon Barnhurst; and brother Jody Gittins.

At his request, his remains will be cremated, and his corneas have been donated so other people may see the world through his eyes.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East. Graveside service will take place on Friday, July 17th at 11 am at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 4th Avenue and “T” street in Salt Lake City.
