Ray Arthur Green

November 28, 1956 - December 15, 2019

Ray was a man that never let age be a number and he was an amazing husband, father, grandpa, uncle and great friend that passed away on December 15, 2019.

He was born November 28, 1956 to Dwayne and Ruby Green in Salt Lake City, Utah. He had 5 siblings, Sharon, Shirley, Dwain, David and Kevin. Ray married his partner in life, Margo Strickland on June 27, 1981. They had met in July of 1976 and celebrated 43 years together. Ray and Margo had two children Nevada and Shaw that he loved beyond all measures. He also had a grandson Jack, which he loved watching movies and playing with toys.

Ray spent a lot of his life being on the open road as a truck driver. He bought his first Semi in 1987 and started his own company, SouthPaw. He had a long time affiliation of over 25 years working with Godfrey Trucking. He also met and had many colleagues that turned into close friends while working with Motor Cargo and Design Transport Trucking. He spent many hours on the phone with his brother David and friend Ernie. Ray spent time off the road helping Margo with Beaded Puma. A bead store that they had for 20 years and had many great customers, that he enjoyed getting lunch for and taking breaks with.

During his life, Ray loved taking adventures with his family, watching Disney movies (really any movie) and his dogs. He loved spending time at home when he could. Boy did he love clean socks, and all of his family, even though it was small, he made all people his “family.” He was an uncle and father figure to many of his nieces, nephews and people that he adored or may have even “hated.”

Ray is survived by his wife Margo, daughter Nevada (Mike), son Shaw, grandson Jack, Jocine and Kyle.
To all who knew him, remember him with a drink in his hand and a smile on his face.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Ray at Starks Funeral Parlor, Monday December 23, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking on the north side of the building.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, 5001 Angel Canyon Road Kanab, Utah 84741-5000 or https://bestfriends.org/donate/make-gift-memory

Our family has fond memories of Ray. All those years of Christmas Eve at your house. He was always so welcoming and quick to start you with a drink! While some of us chatted in the kitchen, the kids usually ended up in the basement where the games were played. That’s where you would often find Ray, thoroughly enjoying himself. That’s how I think of Ray - always welcoming with a good sense of fun.
