Richard Clement Ulibarri
August 16, 1962 - July 9, 2013
Some people’s smile can light up a room. Rich Ulibarri’s smile and presence could light up the entire Utah football stadium.
Rich, my husband and our father, died unexpectedly on July 9, 2013. Rich was 50 years old and was the best example of a loving, hard-working and dedicated man towards his family and work. He was born to Benjamin Jr. and Connie Ulibarri on August 16, 1962. He graduated from Murray High School and attended the University of Utah. He married the love of his life, Marylynn Malouf, on July 30, 1988. Rich worked for The Training Table for 33 years as the COO. He then joined Millcreek Engineering.
Rich had a way of turning an average experience into one of the best times you ever had. With his infectious laugh, ever-present smile, and generous spirit, he had a way of making everyone he met feel like they were his closest friends.
Rich loved the outdoors. He also enjoyed skiing, golfing, fishing, boating, biking, as well as playing with his beloved dog, Max.
Rich’s love for Utes was undeniable. He was a Utah man through and through. He was the heart and soul of tailgating and rarely missed a game. The Utah football season will not be the same without him.
Rich will be remembered by all for his passion and exuberance for life. He was a fun, genuine and caring friend and family man. He was energetic and made our family special, leading by example with his positive attitude and passion for life. Rich loved to spend quality time with his family and friends. He was a dedicated father and husband who coached and attended all of his children’s events. Although his life was cut short, he taught his children the art of living and how to embrace life to the fullest. Uncle Rich was loved dearly by all his nieces and nephews. He was an inspiration and truly made everyone around him a better person. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survived by wife Marylynn; children Nathan, Madison and Marissa; parents Benjamin Jr. (Jeri) and Connie Ulibarri, siblings Jeff (Karen) Ulibarri, Rocky (Diana) Ulibarri, Patty Beckstead, Marnie (Peter) Saunders; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his grandparents; two uncles and an aunt.
A wake will be held on Monday, July 15th from 6-9 p.m. at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. The family has requested that visitors wear their Utah red and white in honor of Rich’s love of the Utes. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 16 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1375 E. Spring Lane, Salt Lake City. Interment to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 4th Ave. “T” Street, Salt Lake City.
The family would like to thank Dr. Tom Barman and the staff at St. Mark’s Hospital for helping Rich.
In lieu of flowers, a fund is set up to further his children’s education at Mountain America Credit Union in the name of Ulibarri Education Fund.

Dear Ulibarri family, We were very sorry to hear of your loss. We have many fond memories of Rich and are saddened by his passing. We first met Rich when he became Ben's baseball coach at Crown colony. He taught the boys a lot about the game and made it fun for them in the process. We loved his humor and sense of fair play. He will be greatly missed.

Marylynn, Nate, Madison, Marissa: I know that there are no words that I can say that will aleviate your grief or to fill the hole in your hearts from the loss of Rich. It is such a tragedy that a person, who brought so much joy and laughter to so many, died so young. Just know that in his short life he was loved my many. My life was better having known him. I will miss his that radiant smile and infectious laugh. Utah Football games just won't be the same without him. Remember his positive energy. Honor his memory by remaining positive yourself. Smile though your heart is breaking. George

My sincere condolences to the Ulibarri family and all of Richard's friends. I am one of those friends and I got to know Rich when I worked for him at the Training Table in 1981. I lost track of Richard after I went to school and moved away for a while then found him again at tailgating when I moved home. Richard has always impressed me with his positive fun loving attitude and the fact taht he was always super nice. Who could ever forget that smile and laugh he had . . . he brightened everyone around him. Richard will be missed for sure and I am so sorry for his loss.

To the Ulibarri family, I am so very sorry for your loss. I knew Rich from working at the Training Table. On the days that he stopped by the Sugarhouse location, we were always greeted with Rich's positive energy, great attitude, and overall excitement to be at work. He was fun to be around and I learned a lot about managing from Rich. I will always remember his smile and wonderful laugh! He will be missed by everyone who had the great pleasure of knowing him. My thoughts and prayers to you.

I have not seen nor spoken to Rich in over 30 year but remember him as a co-worker and friend from the Training Table. The TT was a great place where I met Rich and other life long friends. My heart reachs out to Marylyn and his family. I loved Rich's smile and laughter and I know heaven today is a better place with Rich there in Gods care. God Bless you all and Peace be with you.
