Richard Pat Luke

November 21, 1941 - September 9, 2011

Richard Patrick Luke

“Pat Perfect”

Our husband, father, grumpa, brother, uncle and friend started his next adventure on September 9, 2011.  He was surrounded by his family at home when he passed after a valiant fight with cancer.  He was brave to the end.

He was born on November 21, 1941 in Burbank, CA to Ralph and Dorothy Luke.  He graduated from Bountiful High School and earned his degree in Marketing from Weber State.  Upon graduation he relocated to California for employment where he met the love of his life, the thorn in his side, the apple in his mouth.  He married Sharon Levites on November 25, 1971 in Las Vegas with 25 of their closest friends.  After a few years, a business opportunity brought him back to Utah where he raised his family.  Pat was a 26-year member of the Murray-Cottonwood Elks Lodge (#2344) and also a member of the Lake Flaming Gorge Yacht club, serving a term as Commodore.  He held membership in the Utah Cobra Club after spending three years in his garage building his own Cobra. Pat enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, making jewelry, and had won renown as a BBQ Master.  A strong and wise man, he always knew the direction he was headed.  Pat was headstrong, adventurous, courageous, and possessed an immeasurable zest for life.  There was nothing he couldn’t do.  His family and friends love him dearly and he will be missed tremendously.

He leaves behind his wife of almost 40 years; his children – of whom he was very proud – Eric (Kristy) and Corie (Chris) Schiffman; grandchildren Max Luke and Giorgia Schiffman; three sisters; and many extended family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Friends are invited to Celebrate his Life on Saturday, September 17th from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East Salt Lake City, Utah.

The family would like to offer their heartfelt gratitude to IHC Hospice, especially his nurses Cheryl and Bill for their compassion and love.

Memorial video tribute forthcoming at www.starksfuneral.com where online condolences may be offered.

Sharon, I know time has passed with NO words. You and Pat were there for me on my day of Celebration for my Son. I will have to put on my big girl panties to be there for YOU! There are NO words to express your LOSS. I thank you for calling to me and letting me know of Pat's PASSING. I having 1st hand can only say: I am here when and if you need an ear or shoulder to express yourself. I have always looked up to you for strength and courage ( you know what I mean). I love you and will always be here for you when you need that moment. Again I am sorry. And I have no idea what to say; that I am so here for you when you are ready. It will be CRAZY for you and the children. I love you and always have and never stopped. Danielle, Michael, Connie, Apollo (Olimpya) and Grand babies (Kloey, Berkley,Taylor & Xairus)

It was with great sadness that I saw the passing of Pat. We worked together for many years and I truely enjoyed his off-beat sense of humor. He was a dedicated rep for the Auto industry and loved his family(he mentioned it often). He was a good guy and will be missed.

Sharon, I hope you know how I feel about you and Pat. You will always be the best Office Administrator a broker could ever have and you were far more than that to me. I appreciated your hard work, as well as your love and friendship. And I appreciated Pat's support as you fulfilled your responsibilities in running our office so perfectly. Our thoughts go out to you at this difficult time and always. Love, Tammy and Byron Lund

Dear Sharon, Eric & Corie I didn't know Pat real well, but whenever I was in his presence he always presented a feeling of calm, graciousness and self-assurance. At Corie's wedding I could see how proud he was of her and I'm sure that was a reflection of his love for his family. I know the void is deep and can only hope that with time it can be filled with the life he lived and your memories of how he lived it. All our condolences, David & Carmen

We are so sorry to hear of Pat's passing. We thoroughly enjoyed Pat's wit and humor and wisdom at cars shows and Cobra Club gatherings. The 'beyond bright' yellow of his cobra was such a perfect reflection of his personality. It was a privilege to have known him. Les and Lynda Seckletstewa
