Richard Reese Conrad

Richard Reese Conrad

Tiny

On the 4th of July 2008, one of the kindest, gentlest, most forgiving men left us. He was born at Holy Cross Hospital in the early morning of December 10, 1959 to Richard A. Conrad and Virginia Thomas Conrad.  He graduated from Judge Memorial Catholic High School in 1978.  He treasured his time at Judge and said he wished they would let him stay one more year.  He went on to open a business with his father called Dick’s Check & Lube and was shop manager until the property was taken for the freeway.   He loved to ski (no matter how many broken bones) and did so with a vengeance.  He loved to celebrate life with family and friends and an impromptu keg was frosting on the cake.  He adored his sister and confided much to her which she always kept as just their secrets. He encountered many illnesses in his life which he faced without ever a complaint.  He could not find it within himself to say anything bad about anyone.  We will miss his wonderful smile that made everyone’s day perfect. The family would like to thank Joe Tabish, Marge McCoy, Judy and Isabelle for their support and care for Richard.  Also many thanks to Dr. Mark Shockey for understanding and caring for Richard. He leaves behind his parents; sons Richard Evan and Nicholas; sister Ann (DeMar) Butterfield; nephews Bryce, Reese and Carson; other extended family members and many friends. A wake will be held Tuesday, July 8th from 6 to 8 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 9th at 11:00 AM at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church 1375 East Spring Lane, Salt Lake City.  Entombment to follow at Salt Lake City Cemetery Mausoleum, 4th Avenue “N” Street, Salt Lake City.

In Loving Memory

I'm very sorry for your loss. I met Richard several years ago when he worked for Graybar Electric. My mom, Pat Brown, worked there and she introduced me to Richard. At the time, I lived in Spanish Fork & was a senior in high school. Richard & I went to several concerts, skiing, & he came down to spend my "senior sluff" day with me. Not sure what happened but we lost contact w/each other. We had a lot in common, he was very sweet & caring & he often crossed my mind. I loved his dimples and his smile. I'm sure he will be missed. God Bless. Dana

Dick, Virginia, Deedee, and family, We are so sorry to hear about Tiny. He was such a sweet person. We enjoyed the short time we just happened to live next door to him. I've (Silvia) known him for such a long time. When we were teens, I always thought he was so cute. His cute dimply smile and blue eyes could just melt your heart. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Silvia and Brad

I am very sorry to hear about Richard. Due to the alphabetical seating chart we spent a lot of time next to each other from 7th to 12th grade. He was always very nice to me. I know he had great love for his family especiall his little sister. He was one proud big brother. He is one of just a handful of kids I often thought about over the years. What a sweetheart! I'm sorry for your loss.

Dick & Vinginia, We are so sorry for the loss of Tiny. We didn't see the notice in the Deseret News and did not know of his passing until Sam Boyack told me at the CBI lunch. We feel that we kind of grew up with you both . It has been said many times that parents should never have to bury one of their children. We can onlly feel what a great loss this is for you. May God bless you and be with you both at this time. Our love and prayers to you.
