Robert 'Bob' Simons Chamberlin

December 4, 1926 - June 22, 2023

Robert (“Bob”) Simons Chamberlin, December 4, 1926 – June 22, 2023.  Bob began his life in Ogden, Utah, the third child of James Francis Chamberlin and Irene Simons.  He spent his childhood playing sports, skiing and hiking and his teen years working in the rail yard, delivering milk, or at his aunt's ranch.   He trained to be a Naval aviator during WWII, and after the war, obtained his degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Utah.  He married Mary Cecilia Hill in 1949 and they raised five children together, Frank (Lori Darrow), Mark (Barbara), Denise Barnett (Jerry), Darcy (David Hart), and Robert M. Chamberlin.  Uncle to many, Bob is survived by his 5 children, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  Bob was preceded in death by his five siblings and his beloved Mary, his wife of 64 years.

Bob spent his professional life with Chicago Bridge & Iron and grafted his considerable engineering skills onto an illustrious career.  As a VP in international sales, he loved chasing prospects which brought him success from Asia and Australia to the Middle East and Europe.  He taught his children the joys of travel and exploration and respect for persons from all backgrounds.  His only regret is that as a life-long Republican, he raised five Democrats!

He was an avid golfer, bridge player, dancer, and story teller.  Our family dinners involved many philosophical discussions laced with much laughter.  He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

In Loving Memory

I wanted to share my condolences during this difficult time. Your father, grandfather and friend was one of the most kind and gentle souls. He always made me smile. He brought peace to our dear mother (his sister, Muriel Perschon). She often got agitated because of her dementia and always wanted to talk to Bob. He had a gift for uplifting others. I really love my uncle Bob. Kay Tuttle

Thank you, Dad, for showing us the way to be productive, useful citizens and to lead lives filled with love and laughter. Miss you, Love David and Darcy
