Robert Dickerson
February 9, 1954 - January 24, 2017
Our loving brother, uncle and friend, Robert (Bob) Dickerson passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the age of 62. He was born in SLC, Utah on February 9, 1954 to Bernard (Dick) & Mary Dickerson. Bob grew up in Rose Park, Utah and graduated from West High School in 1972. He also attended the University of Utah.
His adult life was spent working for several national park resorts and spent most of his time at Jenny Lake Lodge, Vale Ski Resort & Stein Erickson Lodge. There he met many great friends. After returning to SLC he spent 16 years with UTA as a bus driver and was hired as one of the first Rail Operators for TRAX. He received numerous awards and recognition for safe driving.
Bob was a gentle, caring and thoughtful person and was a wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephews. He loved family gatherings and found hilarious gag gifts for family parties. He had a great laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Bob had a special relationship with his sister Lisa and spent many days sharing stories and jokes. They loved teasing each other. Neighbors Gary and Charlotte Brown and their kids became a surrogate family to Bob and took him on many community events and family outings. He enjoyed exploring and trying different cuisines and loved cooking for his family. Bob had a flair for collecting antiques and found every piece to be a treasure. He spent many weekend going to estate sales and antique stores to add unique pieces to his 19th century collection. Bob loved continuing to challenge himself and would enjoy watching Jeopardy, playing Trivial Pursuit; and doing crossword puzzles.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents; and sister Bonnie Dickerson Johnson. He is survived by brothers Terry, Ray (Sue), Tom (Kelli), and Scott (LeAnn); sisters Sue Larsen (Ken), Cathy Tuttle, and Lisa Poore; and many nieces and nephews. We want to thank his sisters Sue & Lisa for their exceptional care dedicated to helping Bob during his last years of life. We would also like to thank the extraordinary care he received at Huntsman Cancer Institute, IMC and Paramount Rehab and Care Center.
A memorial service for friends and family will be held Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Zion Summit Condominiums, 241 North Vine Street (North of the LDS Temple and Conference Center).
Bob will be cremated and laid to rest by his parents in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
