Robert Francis Lang
May 3, 1943-February 22, 2013

Born in New York, he was the son of the late Robert Francis Lang and Francis Lannon Lang. Bob received his Medical Degree and his PhD in Anatomy from the University of Utah, and completed his residency in Ophthalmology at LSU-Charity Hospital in New Orleans.

Bob had a love for golfing with the "Rabbits" at the Salt Lake Country Club & played numerous courses in the United States with his wife, Vivian and his children. Duck hunting at Newstate, skiing the "Best Snow on Earth," and boating and waterskiing in Lake Powell were among his favorite pastimes. He was competitive by nature and loved beating his friends at bridge. Most of all, he enjoyed his time spent with family and friends.

Bob is survived by his wife and best friend, Vivian Miller-Lang; their children Stephanie Miller (Lee) Dunbar of Bel Air, Maryland, Heather (Kelly) Miller-Vickers of Park City, Utah, Robert F (Angela) Lang III of Tampa, Florida; his grandchildren Mitchell Lee Dunbar and Calder Robert Miller-Vickers; and his beloved dogs Punch and Norman. Bob is also survived by his sister, Susan Mulkey.

Bob's family would like to thank, above all, his physician, Dr Kim Scott. Additionally, a special thanks goes out to all of his devoted friends and the staff at Highland Cove Retirement Community and the nursing staff at Highland Care Center.

A private family service will be held this week, and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

Arrangements entrusted to Starks Funeral Parlor. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.starksfuneral.com

We will miss your witty ways and beautiful smile. Goodnight, Pal.

Vivian and family, Our condolences to your family at the loss of your loved one. I was a very young green behind the ear first employee Dr. Lang hired in 1975. My job description expanded over the seven years I was with him from office duties to babysitting for Chelsea and a newborn Robert and housecleaning. Several family members also worked in the office over the years. I am very grateful for the opportunity to have received great on the job training during my employment. Today Joe and I own a Medical billing/Management company in Alaska that all started back in 1975. Thank you Dr. Lang! Rest in peace. Terry and Joe Beaty

Vivian & Family, I was so sorry to read about the passing of Dr. Lang. Basically I will never forget what he did for me as a green assistant. I had just lost my husband, and he was looking for someone, and thanks to Julie Beaty I found a job. It was once in a lifetime, however we all survived, and I continued on in that field thanks to Bob. I will always remember one day going into the office and he had Bank of Nova Scotia Bonds, we laughed as I was from N.S. In time you will heal and look back on the good things laughter, stories. etc It takes awhile, but it does happen. You are in my thoughts always. Thank you again for allowing me the privilege of knowing him. Betty Symonds

What About Bob... My thoughts of spending time with you were many, but what comes to mind was your caring way and beautiful smile. Your contagious laughter was never missing on those occasions. Your bright wit, your adventurous spirit was an attraction. You took my son on his first duck hunt. He couldn't quit talking about it! Thank you. I always thought I would be a better water skier than you, but... the verdict remains outstanding. Thank you for loving my dear friend, Vivian. And, thank you for your genuine friendship. Gone, but never ever forgotten. You stood tall among men! Love you and the memories. Vivian, Robert, Stephanie, Heather, Kelly, Calder and family, my thoughts are with you! Suzann Bird

Vivian & Family, We are so sorry for your loss. It's the little things, the small, everyday occurrences that you'll remember. The laughs, the stories, the smiles. And even though it seems like you can never recover from your loss, it is these very memories that will help push the pain away and bring back the smiles. There is no doubt he brought so much joy and so many smiles to everyone who was lucky enough to meet him. We are so glad to have spent a beautiful Thanksgiving with both of you and the family. You are in our thoughts through this difficult time, please let us know if you need anything. We love you. Love, Steve & Candis Tippets

Hi Aaron, I only just now heard about your Dad's passing and am gltreay saddened. His friend Kirk dedicated a song to him at the bar where I was hosting karaoke this weekend. I probably first met your dad about 15 years ago and I always enjoyed talking to him, finding him ever-friendly and funny. In my near 20 years of hosting karaoke, he is the only one who has ever attempted Ray Stevens' Jeremiah Peabody's Poly Unsaturated Quick Dissolving Fast Acting Pleasant Tasting Green And Purple Pills and he did it great! In recent years he talked proudly of you and your career. I will miss him.
