Robert “Jake” Jacobsen
10/13/1945 – 12/24/2011
“It’s Not the Destination, It’s the Journey”
Robert “Jake” Jacobsen was a true adventurer, always full of life. Jake was “just your basic hero” devoting his working life to public safety. He was a dedicated firefighter, a member of the first paramedics in Utah, served as a crewmember on LifeFlight. In 1984 he founded Burn Pattern Analysis and devoted 25 years to private fire investigation. He proudly served as an Executive Director on the Board of The International Association of Arson Investigators. He was passionate about his business (though his Harleys were serious competition).
Jake passed away peacefully in his home on Christmas Eve surrounded by his loved ones. Jake’s family and friends meant the world to him. He will be deeply missed by his wifey Marian; children Tamra (Tim), Tyler, Matt, Adam, Alex, Morgann (Stephen); grandchildren Colton, Hunter, Charlie and Anna; sisters Jessica and Kathryn; his former wife Jo; his many, many dear friends; and his puppy Sophie. Preceded in death by his parents Calvin R. and Colleen Moody Jacobsen.
Thank you for all the love and support Jake received throughout his battle with cancer. Special thanks to Curo Hospice.
Jake was a great man and leaves behind a remarkable legacy. We love you Jakester!

In Loving Memory
I'll miss my ole buddie Jake, I started working with Jake in 1974 when he came out of Paramedic school with Salt Lake County Fire Department and have kept in touch with him since through work with fire investigations. I consider Jake as a true friend. We always had time to BS with each other over old times. I'm sorry to see him leave us. Dennis

Jake was always so upbeat and happy. I worked in the ER at Cottonwood when he was a paramedic. He was one of the best. Blessings and sympathy to his family. I know he will be missed.

My sincere condolences to Bob's family. He was one of a kind. I am sorry that I wasn't able to keep in touch with him the past few years. I will miss Jake's infectious laugh and being able to reminisce about old times in paramedic school and working with he and Lee on "A" platoon on Rescue 3. He was fun to work with and fun away from the job. May God Bless your family. Tom & Claudia Bogle

Marian and family, Richard and I are so sad that it was Jakes time to leave. It would be a challenge to find a man who had more adventure, spirit and a love of travel than Jake. I know he filled your life with many great adventures. I love him for that. We will miss him. We love you.

I believe I may speak in behalf of all of Jake's Granite High School Class of 1964 classmates in expressing condolence to Marian and all of his extended family. Jake was always a pleasure to be around as he interacted with everyone, smiling and laughing continually. We will surely miss seeing him at the 50-year reunion but will remember him fondly. We pray for peace and all of the great memories of his life to sustain Jake's family and friends.

Marion & Family, I met Jake many years ago when he first started Burn Pattern. I was his accountant for over 20 years and I called him my Kojack. I have fond memories of him driving up to the office in all balck leather on his Harley. Barb.

I am sadened to learn of Bob's passing. I met Bob many years ago. His father, Cal, and my mother, Betty Robison, were close friends for many years. My brother, Gary Robison, who passed of cancer in 1994, was good friends with Bob in high school. Gary, Bob and Blaine Collins, who also died of cancer, always "hung out" together. I also knew Kathy and Debbie. I remember Adam as a baby and still have a picture of him and Jolene. Bob was one of the nicest people I've ever known. My deepest condolences to his family.

Boyd and I wish you much love during this time. Boyd will always cherish their deer hunting trip together! There are so many wonderful memories and stories that we will hold close to our hearts forever! My Uncle Jake was really the only uncle I ever knew and I loved him with all my heart. Jake was one of a kind and he will truly be missed.

I met Jake only once, but I dedicated one of my books to him. As an author, I wanted to come up with a unique way to blow up a house. My local fireman immediately said, "You need to talk with Jake at Burn Pattern Analysis.? I called Jake, and he happily agreed to meet with me. He had wonderful ideas for my book. I took to him right off and didn't want the interview to end. What a wonderful man. The world truly lost one of the good guys on December 24th. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends. He touched my life greatly in only the briefest of moments.

We will sorely miss our good friend Jake. So many fond memories - all the times we had together with Jake and Marian at the IAAI functions throughout the years and the wild times on the snowmobile trails in West Yellowstone. Rest in Peace Jake we will never forget your infectious laugh, adventuresome soul and daredevil spirit. Marian and family, we are so sorry for your loss, our thoughts and prayers for you are in our hearts. What a wonderful time you two had together. We feel so fortunate to have spent the time we did with you both.

Jake, You were much to young to leave us. I know you are in a better place, but I feel a huge sense of loss and my own selfishness of wanting you back. Although we disagreed on politics, it was always great to argue with you. You were and are the best father-in-law a guy could have. Thanks for all the good times. Thanks for all your support. Thanks for the daughter and grandkids you brought to my life. I love you Jake and will forever miss you.

Jake is one interesting and amusing memory. The incredible knowledge at his command as well as the tenacity of a pit bull made every meeting an adventure. Vaya Con Dios Mi Amigo.

Prayers to Jake's family. All the times I met Jake across the country at various fire scenes, or conferences, he always greeted me with his infectious smile. I will never forget his love of life and adventure. I last talked with him before he went to Africa. I could feel his enthusiasm through the phone and was looking forward to hearing all about it. I'll miss him, but he'll leave me smiling.

My heart goes out to my children, Tamra and Tyler. I know how hard it is to lose a parent. When Grami died, I thought I couldn't possibly go on without my mother, who had been with me my whole life ( how do I live without her). But, some how I did. I still miss her and my dad terribly. You will miss your Dad forever. I know you are proud to be his children. He loved and adored you both so much. I love you guys so much, I wish I could take the hurt away as a mother is suposed to do.

Jake, It was a good ride my Brother, a few pot holes along the way, but that's just the adventures in our challenging trip through life. I didn't get to meet your family, but I'm sure they are terrific in every way. Loving, Caring, Kind, Sharing. Just as you were. I only knew you for the blink of an eye, your few short years on the dept., then you retired, we lost track, but we were always friends. You influenced a lot of people, in a lot of different ways. Your time here on this earth was full and the hearts you touched well forever remember. You can look back on this journey and smile, just as those you leave behind will smile as the memories of you pass through their hearts. God Bless and keep you through your next expedition. Peace be with those you leave behind for you feel no more pain! Randy
