Robert Martin Neumeister Jr.

Robert Martin Neumeister, Jr. of Park City, Utah and Vero Beach, Florida passed away with his loving family at his side in Park City on January 05, 2021. He was raised in Charlottesville, Virginia where he developed a life-long love of the outdoors in the Blue Ridge Mountains. As a Boy Scout, he made a trip to Philmont, Colorado and was introduced to the Rocky Mountains. His adventures would ultimately bring him back to that area and then to Utah.
Bob was a graduate of Vanderbilt University in 1971, served in the U.S. Army Reserves, and received an MBA from the Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business, University of Virginia in 1973. In addition, he holds an honorary degree from American Sentinel University.
He began his career at Bank of America (NCNB in 1973), and then moved to the corporate side, spending 17 years at Northern Telecom where he was responsible for financial operations in the Pacific, Canada, and Latin America. As a key team member in Tokyo, Japan, he helped build the first joint venture between Northern Telecom and Nipon Tel in 1985. During his later career at Northern Telecom, he was responsible for wireless phone development. This led him to Sprint PCS where he was the founding CFO, building the first nationwide cellular network in the U.S. Later in his career, he served as global financial operations at Intel Corp., he then worked with numerous companies in turn around leverage buy outs. He served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Dex Media, Inc. and Linux NetworX, Inc. In addition, he served on the Board of Directors for Symmetricom, Inc., VA Software Corp., Covid Communications Group, Inc., Financial Executive Institute, and Advisory Boards for New York Stock Exchange International Capital Markets, and Chase Manhattan Corporations.
Bob met and married the love of his life Mary Anne at Vanderbilt. They went on to have two daughters, Beth and Jennifer. The girls also inherited his love of animals and nature. The family lived overseas, in several different countries, and they loved exploring many areas of the world together. In retirement, he and Mary Anne continued their love of travel. Bob learned Italian and they spent significant time in Italy. He was passionate about spending time outdoors with his family; he loved camping and rafting, skiing, boating on the Intracoastal Waterway in Florida, and the development of his beehives in Park City. Bob loved his grandchildren more than words can describe; he could often be found skiing, at the beach, out in the garden, or just in the woods playing with them. He also took great satisfaction in working with youth and veterans as a regular volunteer at the National Ability Center, Park City in the aquatic and snow programs.
Bob is survived by his wife Mary Anne of 50 years, his two daughters, Elizabeth Spears of Chesapeake, VA and Jennifer Haglin of Park City, UT, son in laws: Michael Spears and Peter Haglin, granddaughters; Heidi, Holly, and Sadie Rose and sister, Karen Neumeister of Charlottesville, VA.
A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2021.

Mary Ann, Our condolences and deepest sympathy to your family for your loss. It was a pleasure and privilege to work with Bob back in his Sprint PCS days. He was a world class professional who accomplished some monumental tasks while we worked together. Without him, we could not have done it. Our reunion of 2 summers ago seems a long way off now. Bob was a wonderful colleague, customer and friend. A man of great integrity, intelligence and good humor. An exemplar for all he worked with and coached.
