Robert Michael Thompson (Mike)

March 5, 1954 - March 7, 2026

Our loving son, brother, and friend has gone home to be with Jesus. He fell asleep peacefully surrounded by his loving mother, Sandra, and sısters; Terri and Tracie on March 7, 2026 at the age of 72.

He was privileged to recently meet his beautiful daughter, Chandra, which gave him great joy.

Mike grew up and resided in Salt Lake City, Utah. He overcame many obstacles in his lifetime and we are all very proud of him. Mike was a wonderful caregiver to his grandmother, father and mother. He was a prolific reader who loved science fiction. His hobbies were incredible. Mike built his own computer from scratch and was an avid gamer who had friends all over the world. Mike was funny and kind -he had a joke for everyone and will be greatly missed.

Mike had many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles who loved him and appreciated his sense of humor. His closest friend and nephew, Toby Triptow was with him until the end.

Mike leaves behind his mother Sandra Thompson, sisters; Terri Neihart Jonkman and Tracie Thompson Sturm. His loving father, Robert J. Thompson has gone on before him.

A specal thanks goes to the caregivers at hospice 4 Utah. They are incredible!

The family will celebrate his life in a private gathering in the near future.

In Loving Memory

I recently met Robert via online gaming. He was a very fun person with whom we all liked to chat and play. My condolences.

I knew Bio via online gaming. He was a great guy, fun to know, and was always eager to help a newbie. I will miss you my friend. Sincere condolences to Bio's family and friends.

We’ve been following Mike’s disease for quite a while now and knew this day would come. It still doesn’t make it any easier to lose an old friend. I am one of Mike’s gaming buddies. He was known to us by his gaming name “Biowar”, Bio for short. Bio and furski, another gaming buddy, and I have been playing these games every morning since 2013. Several different games over many years. Lots of bad jokes a few dirty jokes and some hilarious times. It’s interesting that two of my best friends are people I’ve never actually met in person but for all those years I meet with them every morning and we play these online games. I know their families I know their pets and their ups and downs. It’s hard to say I’ve got any friends closer than them. He wanted to play one last game which was Dune Awakenings and we did. Rest in peace old friend the hard times of battling your disease are behind you now.
