Robert Reed Loftis Jr.

Gone Ski’in

Bob passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at his home.

He was born on May 2, 1929 in Price, Utah to Zona Kilpack and Robert Reed Loftis Sr. He served his country as a medic in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Star, one overseas service bar and the United Nations Service Medal.  After his honorable discharge, he worked in the motion picture business retiring as branch manager from MGM/UA in 1985. In his “retirement” he started his own business, Master Handyman which was a division of Honey-Do Inc.  Bob married Loralee Deyoe on February 5, 1960 and together they had two wonderful children. He loved hunting, fishing and anything outdoors.   Bob would golf all summer and ski all winter.  He founded the first ski club at South High School and was a lifetime member of the Alpine Country Club. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.  Bob was especially devoted to his family and was always able to help his children with his love, support or a joke.  He kept everyone laughing with his stories.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Darin and Jill; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters Donna Lee Christiansen and Gayle Engebretsen.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Jean Helen Carlson and Carol Loftis.

Friends are invited to celebrate Bob’s life on Wednesday, January 16th 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.
