Roberta Jean Berquist

June 10, 1916 - April 1, 2012

Roberta Jean (Betty) Berquist

Roberta Jean (Betty) Berquist died in St. Marks Hospital on Sunday, April 1, 2012. She lived for 95 vibrant years and died from old age with complications of pneumonia. Betty was born to Robert and Tresa Bertelsen Barrowman, the third of their four children. Betty’s father, a prominent dentist in Salt Lake City, died when Betty was 13 years old.

Betty married Fred Berquist in 1935. They founded a construction company specializing in heavy earth moving. Fred ran the field work and Betty handled the bookkeeping, payrolls, and other management functions. Fred died at the age of 57, shortly after Betty’s mother, Tresa, died. After Fred’s death, Betty liquidated the construction equipment and took on new challenges, including selling real estate and working as a neighborhood organizer for the Salt Lake City Police Department.

Betty’s only child was her daughter Marilyn, who was born in 1942. She was ever the central interest of Betty’s life. Marilyn’s untimely death from cancer last year was a severe blow to Betty.

Betty Berquist lived a heroic life filled with challenges and accomplishments. She was noted for her mental acuity, unflinching honesty, indomitable courage, sharp humor, and jovial spirit. Her life was a credit to the hardy pioneer stock she descended from, characterized by her commitment to family.

Betty is survived by her son-in-law David Bryner in Salt Lake; nephew Bob Cannon in California; and cousins and relatives on the Bertelsen side of her family. She will be sincerely missed.

There will be a graveside service for her on Monday, April 9th at 1:00 PM at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 South, Salt Lake City.

In Loving Memory

I've only known Betty the last 2 years of her life, of which I'm truly grateful for in that she will continue to bless the rest of my life; puttting a smile on my face at every thought of her larger than life (although petitie stature) personality; what a sophisticated and sharp lady! Thank you Betty for enriching my life and the lives of my family, especially my mother... You will be cherished and are loved more than you know! Our condolences to your sweet family who are also in our thoughts and prayers... Love you Betty!

I as well as my friends hapenepd to be reviewing the best advice located on your website while the sudden got a terrible suspicion I had not thanked the blog owner for those secrets. Those boys are already totally stimulated to read them and have now very much been using them. Many thanks for turning out to be considerably thoughtful and for deciding on such outstanding ideas millions of individuals are really desperate to learn about. My very own sincere regret for not saying thanks to you earlier.

, and she just nodded her head knwlingoy, an eyebrow raised in my direction. I think when I get done with any future romance projects, I'll have to have two versions: one with the boob focus left in, and one where I ommit the boob focus. (grin)Your commentary on World of Warcraft destroying a large segment of potential Fantasy fan readership was disturbingly plausible. Certainly sounds like a good many kids who might otherwise read fantasy, are doing MMORPG instead. I have to wonder though hope? that MMORPG may still be a vehicle for those who grow tired of easy virtual adventure, and want to be taken on a journey that video games cannot yet truly replicate.Anyway, thank you for the information and wisdom you dispensed to kids such as myself at 36 do I get to claim that? Thanks for sharing this, Brad! I wish I'd been there, it sounds like a great time. You're welcome to call youself a kid as far as I'm concerned, and I'm sure Barbara wouldn't mind, either. Heh-heh Deb
