Roberta A. Adams
May 17, 1938 – October 21, 2011
Roberta died peacefully on October 21, 2011 at St. Josephs Villa due to Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was born May 17, 1938 in Streator, IL, the only child of Laura and Thomas Rush. She married Donald Adams on June 22, 1957 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Streator, IL. The newlyweds moved to Southern California. Fifteen years later they settled in Laramie, WY where Don became a professor at the University of Wyoming. Roberta was a great supporter of both the cultural affairs and athletics of the University. Upon retirement, Don and Roberta moved to Salt Lake City to be closer to family.
Roberta enjoyed working in real estate for a brief time and also went to school for social work. She started Wyoming Test Fixtures, an engineering business, with her husband. But of all of her accomplishments, being a homemaker, wife and mother was of greatest importance. She gave selflessly and joyfully put the needs of her husband and children ahead of her own.
In addition to her husband of 54 years, she is survived by her children Dan (Cate) of Salt Lake City, Doug (Bridget) of Farmington, CT, Jayne (Mark) Wingate of Cheyenne, WY; grandchildren Annie, Cassie, Adam, Brian, Elena and Jackson.
She is preceded in death by her son, the Reverend David Adams.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Christus St. Joseph Villa, 451 East Bishop Federal Lane, Salt Lake City, where a viewing will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
Donations may be made in honor of Roberta to the Alzheimer’s Association Utah Chapter, 855 East 4800 South, Ste 100, SLC, UT 84107.
