Rosalie Yeager
November 11, 1920 - January 10, 2017
The front pew at the 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass at St. Ann's Catholic Church will be a lonelier place after the passing of Rosalie Yeager on January 10, 2017. She was 96.
Rosalie was a stalwart for decades at the church, where she belonged to the St. Ann's Ladies Guild and the Catholic Women's League. She possessed a near encyclopedic knowledge of the history of the parish and could tell stories about priests and long-time friends by the hour.
In fact, Rosalie had an amazing memory about the many people whose lives she touched. She loved telling stories about her late husband Glenn, her family and her friends. A woman of simple tastes who made friends easily, nothing pleased her more than when she had a chance to share a meal with a loved one.
Rosalie was born on November 11, 1920, and was the oldest daughter of Nick and Mary Ruga. She married Glenn Yeager on March 22, 1941, and made a wonderful home on Imperial Street where her neat yard, filled with flowers, delighted generations of neighbors and relatives.
She was preceded in death by Glenn, who passed away on October 12, 1983, and her younger sisters Esther Gustaveson and Violet Wharton.
Rosalie was the proud mother of Nicki (Jack) Fairbanks, Marsha (Mike Cullum) and Denise (Barry) Blackett. She leaves behind seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren and a legacy of friendship to dozens.
Rosalie was particularly proud of her work as a volunteer for Special Needs Children at a school in her neighborhood.
A wake is planned for Wednesday, January 18, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt lake City, Utah 84106. Rosalie's life will be celebrated at a Funeral Mass, Thursday, January 19 at noon, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 450 East 2100 South, followed by burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends and family can visit a half hour before Thursday's service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Rosalie's name to The Sharing Place, 1695 East 3300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah 84106 or Kearns-St. Ann School, 450 East 2100 South, Salt Lake City, Utah 84115.
The family thanks Maria Montoya, who was Rosalie's in-home care giver for many years.

oSorry we weren't able to be there for the family. Age, illness and inversion kept us in. Our memories of Rosalie were always her smiling face and how she managed attending so many events. Prayers and blessings!

It was a privilege to meet up with Rosalie on my last two visits to Salt Lake City. We had our little chats on several social occasions and she proudly showed me around her home, pointing out all her family photographs and other memorabilia. Sorry I cannot be there for the funeral but will be thinking of you all. Rosalie was a lovely lady.

Dear Nicki, Marsha, Denny, I wish I could have come today. I had planned on it but my health issues, and the snow prevented me from coming. (Also I cannot drive after dark, so I did not plan on the wake.) I have so many wonderful memories of each of you, as well as your parents. You have all blessed my life - especially you Nicki. Thank you so much! I have enjoyed having your Mom in my life again. I feel bad I did not get a chance to see her again before her passing. I enjoyed our talks, & I will miss them. May you feel God's Comforter as you grieve. May He bring to your mind special wonderful memories to help you feel joy. With much Love & Hugs for each of you and your families. Always your friend, Jennette Terry

I just now saw this in checking SLC obits. I live in Wyoming. Just wanted to extend my sympathy. Our moms were friends and each lived into their 90's. what a blessing for all of us. Your mom was always so kind to me. I remember her well. We all grew up at St Ann church and school. Happy memories!
