Rose Ann Sirstins
9/12/1923 – 12/18/2012
On Tuesday morning, December 18th, 2012, Rose Ann Pazell Sirstins saw more clearly, walked more spryly, and smiled from ear to ear as she reunited with her loving parents, brothers, sisters, husband, nephews and friends that went before her.
Well, here is my story. I was born September 12th, 1923 to Manda Pavicich and John Pazell in Highland Boy, Utah, which was one part of the many mining communities of Bingham Canyon. I was exceptionally fond of these towns and loved to tell stories of growing up there, with the many cultures and religions. We all got along.
I am especially proud of being a Pazell and love all of my family. I was the youngest of eight brothers and sisters. George, Nick, Mary, Mike, Steve, Katie, Tommy, and 1 adopted brother Louise, who all preceded me in death. They all married wonderful people. We were a family.
Others that have gone before me are my husband Fred, my step-great-grandkids Ariel and Colby, most of the gang from Maxwell Lane and so many friends like Alice and Rae. I am looking forward to seeing them all again.
Survived by my sons Kurt (Kelly) and Paul. Special girl Dawnie, sister-in-law Theresa, step-great-grandson Colton, 15 nieces and nephews and their families. I tried to keep in touch and many became my pen pals, visited with me, sent emails and called me up. Maggie, Rosalie, Francine, George, Andy, Louise, Johnny, Butch and their families kept me on my toes. Also friends Emmy, Lynne, Wendy, David, Dean, Rod, Dawnie and their families and of course my many many dear friends.
1941, I graduated from Jordan High, but I am proud to call myself a Bingham Miner for that is where my school roots are.
Work was important to me, the butcher shop, the Ephram Creamery in Town, Mountain Bell, The Credit Bureau, and ZCMI; mostly because of the good friends I worked with. Enid and Keith are so dear.
In between all this, I managed to make great relationships bowling, belonging to the Vets AA Group, playing bingo and so many other adventures.
I married a good man, Fred K. Sirstins in 1946. We had a lot of laughter, tears and love. We beat back his alcoholism and had 8 great years before he died in 1986. Fred and I had 2 beautiful boys, Kurt and Paul. They are the love of my life.
My last big accomplishment was moving to California, where I feel I truly am myself, and the new people in my life are so wonderful.
Rose returned to Utah and continued to love and be loved in return. She enjoyed new friends and places like Nick and the people at CousCous, Kenny and the people at the Red Ginger/Sushi Bistro and the people at Mount Olympus Senior Center.
She felt truly blessed connecting with St. Vincent Parish and thankful that Paul is teaching there. It was a godsend that things fell into place to make her last months easier.
The family would like to express their love and thanks to Michelle for taking care of mom and being her bud while Paul was at work, to LaRee for her love and support, and John (hospice) for caring for her with sensitivity, dedication, and preserving her dignity.
Since moving to Utah, mom wasn't able to write how she felt, due to failing health and eyesight. But, she often expressed how much love she had for everyone and wanted everyone to be joyous.
Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, December 22nd at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Holladay, Utah, under the beautiful care of Starks Funeral Parlor Staff.
Mom loved flowers but due to the weather please my a donation to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1385 Spring Lane, Holladay, UT 84117 and/or plant some flowers or bring some flowers to her grave this spring.
In Loving Memory

Dear Kurt and Paul, I have always liked your mother. She was always kind and good to me. As a young boy I could see that she had great love for both of you. Sincerely, Don

Paul and Kurt - So sorry to hear about your Mom. We didn't know her well, but every time we saw her, she was such a kind and gentle lady who always had something gracious and loving to say. She'll be greatly missed - Love, Becky, Ty, Ella and Libby

Kurt, I am sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I know how difficult it is to lose parents and I hope you find some peace and comfort in all the support you and your family receive. I hope all is well with you otherwise and want you to know I will be thinking about you and your family.

Thank you for the honor of serving Rose during her fiinal days. I am honored to have been your hospice nurse and am blessed for having known you Paul;, Kurt and Michelle. Rose was well cared for and there is no doubt that she knew just how much she was loved. May she rest in Peace and may you experience the Peace, that which passes all understanding and that which comes from the Christ of Christmas whom we celebrate.
