Rosita Baquiran Ballesteros

October 15, 1936 - July 9, 2026

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and matriarch, Rosita Baquiran Ballesteros, who peacefully passed away on July 9, 2026, at the age of 89.

Rosita was born on October 15, 1936, in Echague, Isabela, Philippines. From a young age, she embodied resilience, determination, and selflessness. Together with her beloved husband, Rodolfo Ballesteros, she built a life rooted in love, faith, and hard work. Whether farming the land or taking on whatever work was needed, she never hesitated to sacrifice so her family could have a better future. Providing for her children was never just a responsibility—it was her greatest purpose and deepest joy.

In the early 1990s, Rosita made the courageous decision to move to the United States to join her daughter, Nora. Even after leaving the Philippines, her heart remained with the family she hoped to reunite. Through years of perseverance, sacrifice, and unwavering determination, she helped make it possible for the rest of her children to come to the United States, creating opportunities for them to build safer, more comfortable lives. Her legacy is one of hope, courage, and unconditional devotion to her family.

Rosita was the heart and light of her family. She led not with words but with quiet acts of love, generosity, and service. She loved everyone equally, making each child and grandchild feel cherished beyond measure. Her children and grandchildren admired her not only as the family’s provider but as their greatest role model—a woman who showed them that true strength is found in sacrifice, humility, kindness, and unconditional love.

She found happiness in life’s simple blessings. She loved tending to her garden, keeping a warm and spotless home, sewing, thrift shopping, and caring for children. One of her greatest joys was operating a daycare, where she lovingly cared for many children, including four of her own grandchildren. To countless little ones, she was a source of comfort, patience, and endless affection.

Rosita was known for her thoughtful and gentle spirit. She always made sure everyone else had what they needed before thinking of herself. She never complained if there was nothing left for her, because seeing her family cared for was enough. Her love knew no limits, and her generosity touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rodolfo Ballesteros, who passed away in August 2020. Though their family deeply missed him, they find peace in knowing they are together once again.

Rosita leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her 10 children, their spouses, 20 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends whose lives she enriched with her love and kindness. In her final moments, she was surrounded by the very family she devoted her entire life to—a reflection of the love she gave so freely and the immeasurable impact she had on every generation.

While our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the 89 years we were blessed to share with her. Her life reminds us that greatness is not measured by wealth or recognition, but by the lives we touch, the sacrifices we make, and the love we leave behind.

Mom, Grandma, Nanay, Innang, Lola —you were our safe place, our teacher, our provider, our greatest example, and the heart of our family. Your strength built the foundation we stand on today, and your love will continue to guide us for generations to come.

You will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and endlessly loved.

“A life of love leaves a legacy that never fades.”

I think one sentence especially deserves to be part of her story because it’s so meaningful:

“In her final moments, she was surrounded by the very family she spent her entire life loving, sacrificing for, and holding together.”

It beautifully brings her life full circle—from spending decades caring for everyone else to being cared for and surrounded by all 10 of her children, grandchildren, and loved ones when she needed them most.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 10:00 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 4914 South 2200 West, Taylorsville. She will be laid to rest following mass at Elysian Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South, Salt Lake City.
