Rosita Marie Archuleta Trujillo

Our sweet and beautiful Mom, Rose Marie Archuleta Trujillo passed away peacefully late Sunday, August 2, 2026. She danced her way up to heaven and was greeted by her daughter Jennifer Svensson and many more family members.

Rose was born October 1, 1939 to Rosendo J. (Jimmy) Archuleta and Opal Leona Bates. She was married to Monico Trujillo, April 20, 1960 and later divorced, January 28, 2000. Survived by her children, James Trujillo (Peggy), AnnMarie Nielson (James), Monico Trujillo, son in law Fredrik Svensson, brother James J. Archuleta (Carol). Mom has 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Jennifer Svensson, brothers, Richard J. Archuleta, Marcus and Gary Trujillo, and sister Linda Silverstein.

Mom and her brothers attended St. Ann’s Catholic Orphanage School, followed by LaFayette Elementary, Horace Mann Jr. High and graduating from West High School in 1957. Mom worked at the State Capitol as a secretary for many years. Then worked at Blodgetts, then on to Rocky Mtn. Data.

Family was Rose’s passion, beginning with her dad and her brothers and blossoming as an adult when she started her own family. Rose would absolutely beam with pride when speaking about her children and grandchildren. Rose also helped raise many nieces and nephews and made a loving connection with them all.

Rose also loved to celebrate all of the holidays. From green pancakes & corned beef & cabbage for St. Patrick’s Day to the mistletoe hanging in the kitchen doorway for the annual Christmas Eve family party. She would always make sure everyone had a place at her kitchen table including countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She loved to bake and cook. Homemade rhubarb pie, pumpkin pie, minced meat pie and making her homemade enchiladas and fideo were all her favorites. And we cannot forget her delicious homemade bread pudding!

Mom loved having all her family over for birthday parties and BBQ’s in her beautiful backyard. Another favorite summer ritual were the monthly BBQ’s at Murray Park. She would include BOTH sides of the family to enjoy yummy food followed by a family softball game. She loved the friendly competition and running the bases!

Mom loved attending Mass at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church where she made many friends and enjoyed volunteering. Later in her life working in the kitchen serving students lunch brought her much joy. Mom had a life long love for all types of music and dancing. And also bowling!Mom took pride in her home and its beautiful view of Mt. Olympus and her lovely rose garden. Mom had a love for our beautiful mountains. She loved going fishing in the Uinta mountains and would always make any fishing and camping trip a blast!

Mom made friends everywhere she went including Welcome Home Assisted Living where she lived the past 4 years. Each and every resident and employee at Welcome Home became her friend. She loved all the activities with one of the highlights being when Becky the Activities Director entered the residents creative art work into the Utah State Fair. Mom won a Blue Ribbon in the Senior Division for her creative art work.

Rose and her friends at Welcome Home won Best in Show for their group project called “Fairy Garden”. Mom always looked forward to Flower Friday at Welcome Home. She also loved the regular Bingo games and of course won more than her share!

Rose always led by example. Teaching everyone that came in contact with her to be kind, generous and accepting. Anyone that knew her well quickly learned that underneath her sweet exterior was a fierce and determined woman. This was her inspiration to us all.

Our family would like to give a special thank you to Welcome Home, Bruce, Nicole, Becky, Myra, Jocee, Mama, Justo, Daniel and Amanda for adding so much joy over the past four years. You really made the final chapter of her earthly life memorable and joyful! We also want to thank Stacie at Rocky Mountain Home Care for her nursing care and friendship!

Thank you to Dr. Rebecca Moore and her staff, Mindy, Julie and Tammy for their amazing care and gentle manner with our cute mom since 2018. And a final thank you to Abbey and Maria who took such good care of mom in her final days while she was on Hospice.

A celebration of Rose’s life will be on Thursday, August 13, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the parking on the north side of the building. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 14, 2026 at 10:00 am at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 315 East 1800 South, Bountiful. She will be laid to rest following Mass at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Avenue & “T” Street, Salt Lake City.
