Rowenna Emma Erickson
November 11, 1939 - January 27, 2018
Rowenna Emma Ekstrom Erickson, 78, passed away in Taylorsville Utah on January 27th 2018.
She was born in Bountiful Utah on November 11, 1939 to Ernie and Blenda Ekstrom. She grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from East High School. She dedicated the first half of her life to raising her eight children. Education was important to Rowenna and she was able to further her own later in life by earning her hypnotherapy certification. She used this skill along with her incredible generosity to help numerous victims of abuse. Rowenna had a positive energy that was contagious. She touched many lives and made it one of her life goals to make the world a better place by helping one person at a time.
In 1998 she was able to use her skill and determination to co found Tapestry Against Polygamy. Together with other Tapestry members she was able to make an incredible difference throughout the world. Rowenna had an amazing positive attitude and would never turn her back on anyone in need. At times she would open her own home to provide shelter and comfort to those needing assistance. She thrived on helping others and this, along with her family, was her passion in life. She had the ability to make any child she encountered, feel as they were her own.
She is survived by her children Michelle Taylor, Kelly (Dave) Kingston, Kristin (Bill) MacKenzie, Taylor (Arianna) Erickson, Stacy (Perry) Wallin, Collin (Eryn) Erickson, Heather (Jeremy) Augilar, Tina (Chris) Bessey. Fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking on the north side of the building. Rowenna will be laid to rest on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful.

Rowenna shone as a bright light in a sometimes turbulent world. She used her experience, intelligence, heart and soul to improve lives---bringing a sense of hope and peace to many. May God hold her, and may his perpetual light shine upon her, now and always.
