Roy W. Painter
May 27, 1933 - November 2, 2018
Roy W. Painter peacefully passed from this life on November 2, 2018 in his home where he raised his family, built by his grandfather Charles Painter.
He was born on May 27, 1933 in Billings, Montana to Wendell Painter and Frances Edwards Painter. He lost his mother, Franny, in a car accident in 1946. Roy grew up tromping through the mountains of Kenilworth, Utah with Elmer and Charles Hamilton. He loved hunting and fishing with his uncle Art (Sastimoinen), auntie Flo (Edwards), uncle Clarence, aunt Elma and cousins.
Roy graduated from Carbon High in 1951. He served in the United States Air Force with distinction during the Korean War. He graduated from LDS Business College and worked for Water Works Equipment Company in Salt Lake City for over thirty years. He married the love of his life, Dolores “Dee” Brinkerhoff on October 8, 1962 in Ely, Nevada. They just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.
Roy’s loved the outdoors, and so many family vacations were spent hiking, camping, and playing in the beautiful mountains and forests of Utah. Music was a major part of life in the Painter house. Roy loved fast, flashy cars and you could hear him coming from miles away. He loved racing; especially at the Bonneville Salt Flats. He loved making everyone laugh with his silly jokes.
Roy loved the Lord and served faithfully in his church as a Deacon. His life reflected the Saviors love and kindness with every day. A special thank you to Pastor Davis who was of great comfort to him and his family and his Pastors Jerry Lewis and Steven White whom he met on the other side.
Special thanks to Dr. Taylor who helped Roy transition peacefully through this latest battle. Also to the therapists and care workers from the Invision; you truly were ministering angels here on earth.
Survived by his loving wife, Dolores “Dee” Painter; daughters Tawny Basino, Cindy Painter, Wendy (Chris) Wardell, and Lorie Roberts; grandchildren Nicholas (Kelly) Wardell, Brandon Basino, Phillip Basino, Kristin (John) Pande, Colin (Kelsee) Wardell and Zackary Roberts; great-grandchildren Brynlee, Carter, Elias, Dean, Johannes, Caleb, and Christian; along with cousins, nieces and nephews.
Please join Roy’s family in a celebration of life on Friday, November 9th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.
