Ruby K. Davis
August 4, 1923 - May 24, 2023
Ruby Dalnodar Davis, 99 years young, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Ruby was born on August 4, 1923 in Superior, Wyoming, the youngest of four siblings, to Erminia Anselmi & Bortolo Dalnodar. After graduation from Stevens-Henager Business College at the top of her class, she was selected to personally work as a secretary for Mr. Henager and was later employed by the Utah State Employment Security Department.
Once upon a time in Utah…..She met Jack Bullock Davis at Black Rock Beach after managing to get her vehicle (along with two girlfriends and her mother) stuck in the sand thus requiring the assistance of Jack and his two friends who happened to be parking nearby. She told her mother and her two friends “I’ll take the blonde one”… True to her word, they were married April 18, 1950 at St. Ann Parish. They loved each other deeply and enjoyed 56 years of marriage until his sudden passing in January 2007. This prompted both the formation of the annual Jack Davis Memorial Golf Event (renamed the Jack & Jill Memorial Golf Event in 2016) as well as the annual Davis Family Santa Fund given as a gift each Christmas to a family in need.
This marriage produced 9 amazing children, each different and all of which knew they were both loved and the favorite child!! She was first and foremost a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She was also a mentor and mother to many of her children’s friends revered for her kindness and common-sense advice and famous for her home-made bread and scones. No one would ever leave hungry or without a loaf of bread when visiting. She was ahead of her time by somehow managing to raise a large family while simultaneously working for Tupperware for over 35 years.
It was often said that Ruby never met a stranger. She could talk to anyone, stranger of friend. If you accompanied her anywhere, you would invariably end up meeting and chatting with almost everyone she encountered. She had the ability to make anyone feel special for that moment of time. This, we believe, was only one of her many gifts.
She loved to play backgammon (defeating/intimidating all who challenged her) golf, and especially dancing. She mentioned many times her love for dance as she had done so much of it when she was young. She would say “I’d rather go dancing than eat”…She was a lifelong Utah Jazz fan and also played golf for many years with both the Bonneville Ladies Golf Association and the Chevron Oil Golf Association winning many tournaments and accomplishing 2 hole-in-one feats. She was also a member of St. Ann’s Parish since 1950 as well as a member of the St. Ann’s bereavement committee for many years. She was the recipient of the St. Ann Parish Woman of the Year award. She had a strong belief in God and prayed the rosary nightly to the Blessed Mother. She would often say “this too shall pass” and “everything happens for a reason”.
Ruby is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jack, daughter Jill, son Bob, son-in-law Joe, parents, siblings Olga Dalnodar, Jennie Stanga, Americo Dalnodar, and nephew Gary. She is survived by her children (spouses): Dianne (ingo), Pat (Ron), Lisa (Mike), Lori (Joe), Bill, Jackie (Glenn), James, Jill (Scott), nephew Burt and wife Susan, as well as 22 grandchildren, 15 great grand children and 4 great great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 31st at 1:00 PM at St. Ann Catholic Church, 450 East 2100 South; visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
Her legacy will continue with the many contributions her family will make to the world…

Dear Davis Sibilings - On behalf of the Linus and Anita Brown family, we extend are sincere condolences to you on Ruby's passing. She was an all around great gal! My personal "two cents." Ruby was so wise and easy to talk with. She was a woman of tremendous faith, and was a great example to me personally. I loved every conversation I had with her. I'll always remember her and your Aunt Olga sitting in that same pew every week at Mass at St. Ann! I believe she is reunited with Jack and all of her loved ones who've gone before her. May she be forever surrounded by God's light and love! Sincerely and with Love - Barb

Dear Family, Ruby leaves a treasure trove of beautiful moments and memories to bask in. The last of the beautiful Dolnadar sisters lived life joyfully. Words like 'Dolly' , 'Birdy' and scones I will always associate with her. You are her loves and a living testament to a life well lived. Like Barbara Brown Struhs, I fondly remember the St. Ann years. She always made me feel welcome in her home. You are her many blessings and she continues to love you all and hold you in prayer. May God bless you all during this very difficult time.

Our sincere condolences to all the Davis family and extended family. Aunt Ruby was one of the kindest souls I knew. I will always remember her scones, and driving up to Rock Springs and Superior, WY with the three sisters- my Grandma (Jennie Stanga), Aunt Olga and Aunt Ruby. The arguments they would have about their Wyoming history were hilarious! Rest in peace Aunt Ruby! Brian, Sarah, Avery, Ella, and Benjamin Stanga

Jack and Mrs. Ruby were the first people to welcome us to the neigborhood over 25 years ago. We couldn't have asked for better neighbors while raising our two boys on that busy 1700 East street. Ruby was so good to my boys and they loved going over to her house for a chat while she watered her always beautiful garden/yard. Ruby was thoughtful, caring and down right funny! We loved her and will miss her deeply, we are so happy that she is reunited with her sweet husband. Love, Brandon, Jennifer, Chase and Riley Townley

Dear Family, I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of your beloved grandmother. It has been 11 years since my school program to the USA, I still cherish the memories I have of her warm and welcoming nature. I remember how she made me feel like part of the family from the moment I met her. She embraced me with open arms. Her kind and open-minded spirit made me feel at home, even though I was thousands of miles away from my own grandma in Germany. Her love and affection were evident in every interaction I had with her. Still, I remember the day we went shooting at the cabin, and the image of her confidently handling the .38 revolver. It stays with me as a symbol of her adventurous and brave personality. I am very grateful for the role she played in shaping my experience during the time abroad. Please convey my deepest sympathies for your entire family. May you find strength and solace in the memories and the love she shared with you all. I hope that, in time, the pain of loss will be replaced by the warmth and comfort of the beautiful moments you shared toegther. Whishing you peace and strength during this challenging time. Flo
