Rudy Robert Pino

December 26, 1930 - January 15, 2026

Centerville – Rudy Robert Pino, 95, passed away on January 15, 2026, with his loving family at his side.

Rudy was born on December 26, 1930, in Bingham Canyon, Utah. He was the youngest son of Italian immigrants, Sam and Teresa Belcolori Pino.  Rudy grew up alongside five brothers and one sister. His upbringing in a close-knit family contributed to his strong values and lifelong devotion to his loved ones.

Rudy graduated from Bingham High School in 1949. He was actively involved in sports, excelling in football, basketball, and especially as a star pitcher in baseball. As a father, Rudy dedicated many years to coaching his sons in little league baseball.

Beginning his career at age 16, Rudy worked for Kennecott Copper Corporation for over 40 years. He started on the track gang at the copper mine and steadily advanced, retiring in 1987 as manager of computer programming in downtown Salt Lake City. Rudy also served in the Army for four years as a supply sergeant during the Korean War.  His unit was sent to Alaska to build an air strip for the US Airforce.

After retiring, Rudy and Donna went on a nine-month trip across the US in their motorhome, creating lasting memories.  They especially enjoyed California and made Oceanside their home for more than 25 years, before moving back to Utah.

Rudy had a passion for watching football, playing golf, and following the stock market. He was well known for sharing stock tips and advice with his family, who appreciated and valued his insight. These interests brought him joy and were often shared with those closest to him.

In the last several years of his life, Rudy (affectionately known as Papa) found great happiness in spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Rudy is survived by his loving wife, Donna, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage. He leaves behind his children: Debbie (Mike) Dahl, Kevin Pino, Bob (Andrea) Pino, Susan (Michael) Jones, and Viki (Bob) Howard; seven grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Eva Stalliviere, and his brothers Albert, Ross, Larry, Bill, and Amedeo Pino.

We would like to thank Rita, Laura, and Laurie from Harmony Hospice Services for their care and support.

Please join us for a Celebration of Rudy’s Life on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East Salt Lake City, UT 84106 from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm.  Guests are encouraged to park and enter on the north side of the building.

In Loving Memory

To Donna and family. Our most sincere condolences for Rudy’s passing. Rudy was my boss for many years at Kennecott Copper, Programming Department in downtown Salt Lake City. One thing I learned from him was that in our Programming profession you would never assume any details and he made sure I would never forget that. Rudy and I travelled to Connecticut to meet with Travelers Insurance, which at the time managed our Savings and Investment Plan. I was supposed to develop an online system to improve the processing of the Savings and Investment Plan. The trip was beneficial. Another thing I remember about Rudy was that he and Jim Colovos would not start the workday until both sat down and checked the Stock Market. Rudy was an excellent boss.
