Ruth Hitchcock Roberts Jensen

September 12, 1925 - May 15, 2017

Ruth peacefully passed away at the age of 91 on Monday May 15, 2017 surrounded by loved ones at the Draper Rehabilitation Center.

Ruth was born on September 12, 1925 to the late Seth and Mary Alice Hitchcock in Ferron, Utah.

Ruth was loved by all that she came in contact with. Her smile would light up any room she walked in to and her laugh was infectious. Ruth sought to instill in her family a zest for life, a commitment to family and friends, and the power of a smile. She was an avid sports fan, especially the NBA and NFL. She spent her days with her family reading, quilting, doing cryptograms and playing cards (which we still think she cheated, but she never admitted).

Ruth is survived by her sister Kenna Anderson. Her daughters Deena King, Pamela Heal, and Sharlotte Wolf. Her Son-in-Laws Ted Heal and Mike Valdez. Her grandchildren Kellie and Mike McCoy, Emily and Matt Boles, Geoffrey and Emily King, Deegan and Taylor Wolf, Michaela, Kadee, Travis, Kyle and Faith Valdez. Her great-grandchildren Olivia and Luke McCoy, Lila and Jack Boles, Asher, Duncan and Ruth King, Maya Wolf, and Michael Noah Valdez. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Dee Roberts and children Lisa Valdez, Kim Roberts, and Deegan Roberts.

The family asks that you that you spend time with your children, take a walk with your loved ones and make a toast to enduring friendships lifelong and beyond. That is what Ruth would wish for you. A special thank you to the staff at Draper Rehabilitation Center.

We will be having a celebration of life on Friday May 19th, 6:00PM at Starks Funeral Home located at 3651 South 900 East. We invite all friends and family to join us in honoring her.

“Happiness lives in the love that surrounds you, the sound of rain, the smell of flowers, the softness of a kiss on your cheek, and the kind words that are spoken. These simple treasures are the joys of life.”

Please join Ruth's family on Friday, May 19th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the valet parking provided on the north side of the building. She will be laid to rest at a private family service at Salt Lake City Cemetery.
