S. Reed Tolton

December 18, 1930 - May 24, 2011

S. Reed Tolton

We Love You, PaPa

Reed returned to our Heavenly Father on May 24, 2011.

He was born December 18, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Arvilla Joseph and Sterling Isador Tolton.  Reed proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.  Two days after his discharge, he met the love of his life, Nina Jorgensen who he married two years later on September 14, 1957.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  Reed was a Management Analyst for the United States Government, which led his family to reside in Heidelberg, Germany for four years.  He also worked at the Tooele Army Depot for many years, while living at his long time home in Holladay.  His employment allowed him to travel throughout the States.  Reed was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He was involved in scouting and served many callings including home teaching and serving in the elder’s quorum. Everybody knew Reed by his unique and dry sense of humor. Reed enjoyed the outdoors, particularly boating, water-skiing, fishing and snow skiing.  He found great pleasure in teaching these activities to his grandchildren. He was an avid basketball fan and was a loyal Crimson Club supporter.   Above all, he cherished his family and their time together, especially at Sunday dinners.  Reed was a warm and devoted husband and family man.  His family will miss him deeply.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nina; daughters Linda Sue, Pamela Ann, Sandra Lee (George); four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son, Lyle Reed and his brother Dale and his parents.

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, May 31st at 11:00 AM at Vernal City Cemetery, 1750 South 500 East, Vernal.  Friends may call upon the family on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Holladay 18th Ward, 2625 E. Milo Way, Holladay.
