Sandee K. Oliver

May 14, 1955 - December 29, 2024

Sandee, our beloved mother, Ethel, grammy, neighbor and friend passed away peacefully in her home of over forty years, with her little angel Bree by her side.

She was born in Los Angeles, California in 1955. She graduated proudly from Murray High School, class of 1973. After high school, Sandee obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Utah, which led to a varied and fulfilling career in the nursing and medical field. Sandee maintained dear friendships with many of her colleagues through her life.

Never one to sit idle, Sandee decided to celebrate her independent spirit by opening her boutique Two Dancing Cats. She spent many years welcoming people into her beautiful shop filled with handpicked gifts.

She loved gardening, keeping her yard beautiful and grass green. She was artistic and shared her art in her mosaic and painting of dishware, amongst other things.

Preceded in death and reunited with her mother, Patricia Grosh, father, Roy Grosh, and brother Curt Grosh.

Survived by her five rescue pups: Bree, Lady, Riley, Chloe, and Watson. Her children Katie (Jake), Erik (Debbie) and four grandkids, Marcello, Isabella, Waylon, and Atticus; siblings,  her brother Rich (Jenny) and sister Robin.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 15th, 2025 from 6-8pm at Starks Funeral Parlor: 3651 S 900 E, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84106

Special thanks to Lina, Mia, Patty, Sita, Kiersten, Michelle, and the many other caregivers and nurses for allowing our mom to remain in her home. And to all of her friends and neighbors who visited; especially Sandra Garcia and Robin who provided exceptional care and support around the clock. Gung Ho to the End!

To MaryJo and The Utah Animal Advocacy Foundation for the continued care and compassion for the pups, making sure they are all well cared for and happy. In lieu of flowers, please donate to support the pups and other rescued dogs in memory of Sandee Oliver. (Please see the “Donate” button above to be directed to the link)

And a special thank you to her team at Huntsman Cancer Center for believing in her and her choice to live every single day. Her unwavering bravery and your support afforded her and us the opportunity to create many lasting memories with family and friends.

And Jenny for helping us all along this journey.

Maybe time running out is a gift

I’ll work hard ‘till the end of my shift

And give you every second I can find

And hope it isn’t me who’s left behind

Love you Ma.

In Loving Memory

I just heard the news and came straight here to add my condolences. Sandee and I worked at Huntsman Mental Health Institute together for many years. I really appreciated her kindness, expertise and humor. It was always a fun time when Sandee was around. I will miss you Sandee, the world is a little less wonderful without you in it. I will try to follow your example and be more kind and brave. Until we meet again, happy trails.

Our condolences to Katie, Erik, and all the family. Sandee will be missed by so many. She sure touched a lot of lives. She was incredibly strong right up until the morning she passed away. I admire her strength and courage. Loved seeing her at Father Dave’s Thinking and praying for all of you. Much Love Aunt Angie, Uncle Pete, and Olivia

When your Mamma owned her fabulous gift shop, Two Dancing Cats, I would come into town a few times a year to work with her. I would purposely set aside the entire day to hang out, catch up, and have her give me great pearls of advice on life. She loved talking about her children, and grandchildren, and also her love for animals. Sandee was special and kind and generous, and I will miss her very much. Thank you for sharing her passing. I will miss a true and kind friend.

We’re saddened to hear of Sandy’s passing. We were neighbors and friends for many years and have a boatload of happy memories. Sandy was a generous caregiver to many burn victims at the University Hospital and would sometimes bring them home to relieve their trauma. It’s just one of many illustrations of the kind of person she was and we’ll always remember her with admiration and love. Trip and Judi

My deepest sympathies to Katie and Erik, and to her beloved canine pack. What a great lady. I shall greatly miss my fellow Poison Peep.

Sandee was a real champion for school nursing. She fought so very hard to increase the number of school nurses per pupils. During her time as School Nurse Consultant, we were able to move the ration from 1 nurse to 9000 students to 1 nurse to 5000 students. Sandee had a great laugh that had an element of the mischevious in it. Please let me know if you all would like to have the Nightingale’s Memorial come to her service. 801-699-4841

Dear family I am so blessed to have known Sandee. She has permanent residency in my heart and mind. I will never forget her. I am so grateful that Bree had a human being with her when Sandee met Jesus. It was important to Sandra Garcia that Bree had a human there when Sandee went home. Thank you Sandra for being the voice of Bree and for holding Sandee's hand. Thank you for keeping the candle going and for not leaving her side. She loves you for that and so do I. I know that you were exhausted, but I knew that you would never leave. I was there for 4 people as they made their way home. Thank you for loving Sandee. Sandee is the best of all of us. I'm so grateful that she was a part of my life. May Gar bless her family and loved ones during this very difficult time. Also, thank you Fr. Dave, you are the peace giver and the friend of Christ who loves His children home.

Robin - So sorry. I am sending my condolences and a big hug. I am certain Sandee and I crossed paths several times. I visited her store, and I can see the resemblance to you in her smile. What an amazing woman and career. May her light keep shining through you and her family, friends, and pets!
