Dear Jackie and girls: Jen and I are heartbroken. You know the essential role that your family and Scott played in my life. I might not have made it through that first year in Pittsburgh without you. I have so many vivid memories of Scott's smile and the smiles that you all had when you were around each other. I am changed because of Scott's leadership and example. Please forgive me for missing opportunities to comfort Scott. We love you and we are waiting for you when you are ready.

I was heartbroken when Todd relayed the news of Scott's passing. Our paths only crossed briefly in Pittsburgh, but I will always remember him as a sincere and caring physician, mentor, and friend. My thoughts and prayers go out to your and your family.
