Scott Leroy Adair

April 13, 1959 - December 1, 2023

Scott Leroy Adair was born in Salt Lake City on April 13, 1959 to Milton L. and Dorothy Jean Adair. He passed away on December 1, 2023 at the age of 64 due to the after effect of a stroke he suffered in June of 2022.

Scott and his sweetheart, Kathy Starr Adair were married on August 10, 1979. They recently celebrated their 44th anniversary. They have two children, daughter Nicole Jean Adair (Matt) and son Ian Sean Wesley Adair (Fran). Scott and Kathy have had a wonderful marriage and their personalities complemented each other so well. Kathy is a very talented artist and Scott was proud of her and encouraged her to pursue that talent.

From a young age Scott was always strong willed and knew exactly what he wanted and would work hard to make it happen. That attitude served him well throughout his life and he has been successful at whatever he set his mind to. It also served him well in his career at the Salt Lake Chevron Refinery. He started out as an operator monitoring and adjusting the operating systems. At that time the refinery used a paper system to track maintenance and repairs that were needed. Scott was teaching himself computers and developed a maintenance tracking and scheduling program at home, during after hours.  When he showed it to his superiors, they were so impressed that they adopted the program. He then transferred into the Information Technology (Computer) group. He traveled to other refineries around the country where they also implemented the program.

He and Kathy enjoyed traveling the US and multiple different countries. But their favorite places was San Diego and they vacationed there many times.

Scott always loved cars, he owned several collectible BMW’s.  Scott was well known, and had many good friends, among the Salt Lake car enthusiast groups and they always looked forward to him attending their activities with one of his beautifully maintained BMWs.

He was always an animal lover. Over the years he had multiple cats and dogs. His most recent dog is Kona, a little Shorkie he adored. You would never see him without her. He took her on daily walks, she would keep him company on drives where he would have one hand on the wheel and the other holding Kona so she could rest her head out the window. Kona gave him so much love and companionship. Now she is helping Kathy with her grief.

Scott was was friendly and accepting of everyone. He loved his family and friends very much and will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at The Peaks at South Jordan Memory Care and Bristol Hospice for the love and friendship they showed to Scott and his family.

A celebration of Scott’s life will be on Monday, December 11, from 6-8 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use parking and entrance located on the north side of the building.

In Loving Memory

My husband Craig and Scott made several trips together to the car shows  and had many long conversations in our neighborhood. He will be greatly missed as we seen him walking his little dog daily. Very sad he had to leave so soon as he and his wife Kathy went on so many trips and vacations and he was having a very full life. He will be missed as a great neighbor and friend.  At the car show one time I was looking behind me and looking at a car Scott was looking the other way I heard him say " Look at that beauty look at the curves on that beauty " and I took it wrong as I thought he was talking about a women, I turned around to see what he was looking at and it was a brand new series 7 BMW, I smiled and said he really loved his cars like he loved his wife. He was one of a kind will miss you buddy!

I met Scott through BMW's and kept up for about 15 years. He was always relaxed, nice and friendly to all. I got to enjoy a cars & coffee in park city before his health issues. We had some of the same cars. His were much nicer haha. I enjoyed bbq, cruises through the canyons. He was smiling! Lived the life he loved. Can't ask for much better. I'm saddened to hear the news. However I believe he's in a better place still smiling like he was behind the wheel. I'll never forget the good times. My condolences to your family

We were devastated to hear of Scott's passing. We were so close in age. He always had a smile and looked Genuinely happy to see us at Family Christmas Parties!! (I really miss those) He was a fun person to hang out with in my younger years. I remember every Christmas my family would go to his house and we would watch Wizard of Oz together. We will always have good memories of Scott. When we took the big move to Florida at retirement, we couldn't visit or hangout with cousins anymore. But thought of them often.! Scott will be missed and thought of often! ❤️

So sorry for your loss!  I worked on rotating shifts with Scott at Chevron when he was an operator.  He went from hating computers to programing them through hard work and determination.  I enjoyed working with him.  He was always a hard working, dedicated guy.
