Shawna Evans Pearce
May 21, 1948 - February 14, 2024
Shawna was born on May 21, 1948 to Clarence and Virginia Evans. She lived her childhood in Bountiful, UT and graduated from Bountiful High School. After college Shawna met the love of her life, Kenny Pearce, while working at Grand Central. Shawna and Kenny were married on October 13, 1974 at Snowbird, UT. From this point on the two of them did practically everything together. They had three children, who they raised in Sandy, UT. Shawna was picked up by Kenny on Valentine’s Day, 2024, after a courageous fight with Lung Cancer.
Shawna had an infectious laugh and smile, a love for family, and an uncanny ability to never say no to anything. She was always willing to try new things, and this gave her a life full of adventure and experience. Over her life she had several accomplishments that anyone would have been proud of. She loved spending her summers in Lake Powell with anyone, but especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was something special to watch water ski (tuck and roll, Mom!)! Along with friends and family, she hiked the “Rim to Rim” at the Grand Canyon, The Subway at Zion, Kings Peak, and hiked numerous canyoneering trails around Utah. She was always a trusty partner on the back of a Harley as well, making many trips around the Western United States and even to Mt. Rushmore. In between all of that, she could be found “stacking cups” at a baseball game or preparing a Summer meal at home for all to enjoy. Shawna was never afraid to do anything, always accepting a challenge with a great attitude and no fear. A positive attitude was always present. She was a passionate woman and would always be sure those near her were taken care of, always putting their needs before her own. She was always willing to bake 15 dozen sugar cookies for Christmas, just to be sure there were enough!
Shawna grabbed life and made the absolute most of it. It was not uncommon for her to be the last to go to bed, then be the first one up to make coffee for everyone. This was true at home and at “the lake”. She always knew what people needed, whether it be food or conversation, and was always willing to give it.
Shawna was preceded in death by Kenny, and her Golden Retriever, Deuce, but not by much. She is survived by her daughters, Sami and Mandy, son, Nick, 9 Grandchildren, and 6 Great-Grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 6-8 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use parking and entrance located on the north side of the building.
