Shayla A. Annis

March 20, 2005 - November 22, 2014

Shayla A. Annis
"Ladybug"

Shayla crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Saturday, November 22, 2014, where the happy kisses of her furry friends are raining on her face in joyous reunion. She was a beautiful girl who left us way too early.

She was born on March 20, 2005 in West Jordan, but spent her early days of life at Primary Children's Hospital, due to heart complications, which ultimately caused her passing. Shayla was a very smart, caring and energetic girl with big dreams of becoming a vet when she grew up. She was a ray of sunshine and an animal lover. Shayla attended Tender Touch from 2 months old through Kindergarten, then she went to Westland Elementary from 1st to 3rd grade. She began her 4th grade at AISU. She made many friends over the years, including Katelyn (Katie bug) and Riahnon. Shayla was our "ladybug."

She leaves behind her grandma and grandpa Ross and Rachel Annis, who raised her; thirteen year-old brother, Ryan; her aunt and uncle Jamie and Rob, with whom she had a special relationship; and numerous extended family members. All of her family is now left with fond memories and holes in their hearts.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 29th from 9:00 until 11:30 at her favorite place, the Utah Humane Society Adoption Service, 4242 South 300 West, Salt Lake City. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Humane Society in the memory of Shayla Annis, P.O. Box 573659, Salt Lake City, UT 84157 or leave her memorial with a new family member.

In Loving Memory

Rachel, I am so very sorry for your loss. Shayla was a lovely child and her loss is truly tragic. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very difficult time.

Psalms 94:14 says "When anxieties overwhelmed me, You comforted and soothed me." As you deal with this numbing anxiety of the death of young Shayla, notice that our Creator is able and willing to comfort and soothe all of you. This is especially important now with losing one who was so dear to everyone. Please allow him to do this for you as you read his promises for all of us in his word at Revelation 21:3,4 & Isaiah 25:8.

Dear Annis Family: On behalf of the Board of Directors and the entire staff of the Humane Society of Utah I wish to offer our sincere condolences for the loss of Shayla-"Ladybug." We were deeply honored that you chose our shelter for the memorial service and that you requested donations to us in lieu of flowers. I have spoken with our staff who accompanied Shayla on her visits and they all tell me that she brought happiness to many of our animals with her words and actions. It is tragic that Shayla who loved animals so much was taken at this early age before she could accomplish great deeds on behalf of her animal friends. We would very much like to honor Shayla and your family with an article in our quarterly newsletter that is sent to over 20,000 families. Our staff will be in contact with you next week if you would like to proceed. We know that Shayla is now surrounded by many of the deceased animals she befriended on earth and that they are having a joyous reunion. With our love and prayers, Craig Cook, President and General Counsel, Humane Society of Utah.

I miss you! I wish you were still here. Everyone still cries like it happened yesterday. I hold it in so much and days like today I see something beautiful and it reminds me of you and I wish I could show you. This is unfair and I beat myself up over not growing up sooner to be with you and know how awesome you were. Your little brother talks to you and says he sees you sometimes.. It makes me jealous and feel confused because only he talks to you. If I have another girl I want her to be just like you. The world lost an amazing human and soul the day you left. I am sorry. and I miss you so bad.
